Predator parent learning their adoptive human child got beat up for defending someone from a bully

she was  sitting  in the grass just down the dirt road  waiting for their pup to return from school, she  could hear the loud ooman transport vehicle even before it arrived at the end of the road. She watched a total of six pups get off the but before hers, and instantly she knew something was wrong. Her pup was always bouncing around and smiling, always happy and always the first off the transport. But today something was different, her pup was the last to exit, head down with no smile walking slowly towards the old oak tree she always waited at.

Slowly standing she met the pup half way before kneeling down taking their face in her hands. The pup jerked back a bit then whimpered tears threatening to spill form their eyes as she saw the damage. A black eye, busted lip, and a large bruise forming on their left cheek. She let out a growl gently running her thumb over the bruise, “What happened my pup?”  The pup sniffled taking a few deep breaths. 

“David and Ronnie the older kids up the road, they were picking on lily a girl in my class who wears glasses, they took them from her..I tried to get them back and tried to stop them form being mean to her, then they turned on me and started hitting me.” Their eyes dropped down waiting for a scolding for getting in the middle of such a thing but instead they hear their mother’s purring. “You did what was honorable, protecting your friend and classmate.”  They looked back up meeting her eyes. “But they won I ended up getting beat up I’m weak mama.”  they mumbled sniffling again. 

The female scooped the pup up and sighed nuzzling the top of their head. “You are not weak, you are still learning and in time you will be able to beat them and defend those you deem worthy of your protection.”  She made her way towards the dwelling they lived in, purring as she did. “I am proud of you, you are a fine yautaj in the making,” At that the pup looked up to its mother. “really?” She nodded with a chuckle. “I never lie.”  That night she made her pup some sweet treats for dinner and helped treat their wounds never having been so proud.

Late that night David and Ronnie got a visit from what they would describe the next morning to their parents, the police, and who ever would listen was the ghost who looked like water.
