What is "pedojacketing"?/genq
Sometimes I see that on Tumblr and I'm confused what this is supposed to mean.
Its a play on the term "bad-jacket", which is where you create suspicion around a person, through usage of disinformation (ie; removing key details of a story), manufacturing evidence, or forming rumors. Basically, pedojacketing is when you use accusations in order to form a narrative that someone should be suspected of being a child predator.
I'll use an example I've seen before. "You post porn on a website that kids use!" when talking about someone posting smut on Tumblr. The phrasing is meant to imply that the person in question WANTS children to see the porn, and thus, wants to prey on children.
Its an absurd jump, and if called out, the person could say "Well, no, I wasn't accusing them of being a child predator, I was just saying they should be mindful of kids on this site!" Essentially gaslighting/covering up the implications of their original statement. Its often used as a "plausible deniability" thing, where they can claim they didn't mean to start a harassment campaign, but in reality that very much was their intention.
The term "pedojacketing" is paramisic because it conflates pedophilia with child predation. I prefer "predatorjacketing", which is a term I've seen floating around too, as it is an accurate description of what is happening in these scenarios.
My system experienced predatorjacketing before, when people were sending us genital diagrams so we could help them figure out their intersexuality or just general genital questions. We didn't pressure or even ask anyone to send these images, people just wanted to do it, because doctors were super unhelpful for them.
We only accepted the diagrams from people who had an adult age in their bio, but we still got predatorjacketed because "what if they're faking their age!", as if we should be forcing people to send us their ID (when you can easily get a fake ID online or screenshot someone's ID and send it to us.) Basically, we were told we were being a child predator on basis of not demanding people to doxx themselves lol.
