In a time of rising tension, the impulse to prepare for the worst calls louder than ever. This is an act of complying in advance that must be resisted. In this video I examine the idea of "Doomsday Prepping" in pursuit of learning how it is preppers turn fear into practice such that us optimists on the other side can do the same with our hope.

This video has been a long time in the making, and represents the culminations of so much of my own learning since I started this small YouTube channel. It centers in on a theory for political engagement that grounds itself in doing real things, right now, here in real life. I yearn for a better, more sustainable, and more just Solarpunk future. But, even I feel that same instinct to look at all that is happening right now in the world. It makes you want to bury your head in the sand and turn your back on the world. Which is something I myself am no stranger to.
But, what if... instead of turning away..? We turned towards each other. What if the optimists of the world took our ideas as seriously as doomsday preppers. What if we lace up our boots, and focus on practicing for a better future, instead of the apocalypse?
The main book I reference:

Throughout the video I use different screenshots of headlines, all of which are real, and taken from different popular sources. You can just search them up. I didn't use them for their content so I'm not citing them as sources since that wasn't the point of my using them, all I wanted was to highlight how their titles tell a story. Regarding mentions of things related to Palantir, I have many videos on that you can check out.

(Also you should like, like this video, and share it around. I am certain it's not particularly algorithm friendly).
Edit: At 13:18 I was supposed to flash up a definition, but instead I accidentally showed that screenshot about how Officials representing the State of Israel essentially agreed that they're committing warcrimes. Rather than fix that error, I'll just laugh and leave it as-is for emphasis. Fuck genocide, free Palestine.
