Preparation means more than just training hard and eating clean. Preparation includes analyzing every situation you could be placed in and controlling as many variables as possible. When we started making jump ropes for competitive fitness nearly a decade ago, one of the first things we corrected was the cable connection. It only took one time for my cable lock screw to vibrate loose and go flying off during a wod for me to realize that is a predicament I could control. I told myself "that should never happen again". That is why we were the very first company in this market space to make nonadjustable jump ropes that were specifically sized to the athlete. Once you know your optimal cable length to fit your size and you're jumping posture there should be no need to ever adjust your cable length. Like with anything there are pros and cons. The pro is that you will have total confidence that your jump rope will never fail during a workout or competition. The con is that you are now held to a performance standard. Sure the cables are removable and replaceable but whatever you have on at that time is what you have to use.
