Pre-Project 2 Writing
What forms of language interest you most?
Non-verbal! I think because in a way, it’s more universal. We don’t need verbal language to convey body language.
In addition, I also like the idea of color language. For example, how we translate red as stop/blood/hate and green as go/luck, blue as calm/fluid/(etc). Is this also a more universal type of understanding?
Also perhaps directional language- cardinal and ordinal. It’s interesting to ponder how one’s personal location can determine the idea of what ‘down south’ or ‘up north’ conveys through perhaps stereotypes or preconceived notions. It’s also interesting to think that everyone probably has certain preconceived notions of places not visited in the world.
What are some of the many different ways to tell a story?
A story can be conveyed through written language, verbally, through actions/acting (how mimes convey without sound), and visually (through images), through setting, or musically. Stories in content usually involve some sort of achievement(or not) in overcoming a challenge/obstacle, an idea that struck once that changed everything, dreams, a memorable experience/connection and many more.
How might you define a book?
A book is a outlet for translating some sort of information. Blanketed, books are either fiction or non-fiction. A book in form is either physical or electronic. A story is not always told, but there is always a start and end to books.
What type of information do you want in your project?
In this project, I want to convey some sort of personal story, or perhaps a widely known story with a new look that is able to easily connect with the audience.
Imagine being someone else. Write a 10-sentence short story from your imagined persona’s perspective. Your short story can work as a narrative, a list, a database, a timeline, etc.
Persona: famous musician-male-30s
Humidity fills my lungs, sweat hangs in the air. Ephemeral is my delicious friend tonight. Still surprise sings in sight. 7,000 formless faces have found feeling in this. There’s created community caught in this moment, a connection that tangles interest. This still feels like a dream. Many mouths move in sync with mine. Have my words changed minds? To hear the thunderous echo spread the space, reminds me to remain relaxed. And still, time will leave this moment for dusty corners someday.
