Small goal: editing in November.
Big goal: maybe someday actually publishing this thing.

Day 8 Writing Music Right now it's mostly HadesTown or Lizzo #preptober #preptoberchallenge #preptober2019 #preptoberchallenge2019 #authorlife #writingmusic https://www.instagram.com/p/B3XOBPUh6KA/?igshid=se426fbc8bdy
I may be taking a wee break from theatre, but y’all know me, I don’t know how to not be busy. This month I’m participating in National Novel Writing Month! I might have told some of y’all (only partially joking) that my dream has always been to become the American J.K. Rowling; some of y’all might even be some sweet friends who’ve stuck around since my fanfiction days. But I haven’t written in years- really, it’s been almost eleven years since I completed my first novel and shoved it in a drawer, never to see the light of day again. This year I’m trying. I wrote an outline, I filled in my #preptober2019 workbook religiously (lots of thanks to @nataliaaleigh for creating it!!) and I’ve made sure to take the time to write. I’m five days in, and this morning I broke 10,000 words. Is it perfect? No. Am I having a great time writing for the first time in years? Absolutely. I’ve even joined authortube and started making daily videos, and started posting on tumblr again. I don’t know where this book will go, but hopefully it won’t get locked in a drawer. #nanowrimo #nanowrimo2019 #nationalnovelwritingmonth #authortube #authortuber #authortubenewbie https://www.instagram.com/p/B4iY3SVA_Hz/?igshid=1w5astz43k5mb
I’ve been a sci-fi/fantasy girl from the very beginning. My current novel is fantasy and my next will be sci-fi!
Nanowrimo season approaches and I will probably just try to edit my story this year. I planned to edit during camp nanowrimo in July but I vastly overestimated how much free time and concentration I would have. May try at least an hour of editing per day in November!
I have too many distractions at home so I try to get out to a coffee shop where it’s easier to focus. I don’t typically go to libraries because I like to snack while writing.
Does lack of motivation count as a distraction?
The setting is VERY loosely inspired by the Regency era in that I really only wanted to use the clothes, food, and level of technology. It’s NOT historical fiction since this is an entirely new world with its own history. I also didn’t want to go the traditional route for fantasy and use a medieval setting.
I have most of the place names and I even have a hand drawn map floating around. My protagonists live in Aswynn.
