If it doesn't make sense, it's probably a fangirl thing. My main ships (just so you know what you're getting into) : destiel, russellsprout, korrasami, Harlan/Radu, Payneland, Victuri, bagginshield, drarry. My fic found here: http://archiveofourown.org/users/HazelBite/works ko-fi.com/hazelbite
You'll doubtless want to turn this off in your Instagram...
Vie the NYT:
When Meta unveiled an artificial intelligence image generator called Muse Image on Tuesday, it came with a feature that let users create A.I. images based on people’s Instagram photos.
Any adult with a public Instagram account was automatically opted in. Using the Meta AI app, the company’s stand-alone chatbot, other users could pull from “part or all of your published photos” to create new A.I. images, the company wrote in a blog post.
“In addition, people may be able to create content with your Instagram content using A.I. features at Meta,” the company added.
Here’s how it works: On the Meta AI app, a user can tag a public Instagram account and direct the chatbot to create new A.I. photos based on photos from that person’s account.
The privacy backlash was immediate. Along with automatically enrolling users in the feature, Meta didn’t notify people when their accounts were used to generate A.I. images.
Hundreds of users took to social media to decry the new feature, asking how they could opt out while criticizing the company for a lack of consent. One user said on social media that the feature was “a privacy landmine waiting to detonate,” while others on Instagram shared templates for how to disable it.
A Meta spokesman said in a statement that private accounts and users under 18 were excluded from the new feature, which can be disabled “with just a couple clicks.”
“We will take action against any content that violates our Community Standards,” the company added.
What can I do about this?
The easiest way to opt out and protect your account is to set your account to private.
But if you’d like to keep your account public, go into Instagram’s settings and scroll down to the “share and reuse” tab. In the sections titled “Allow people to reuse your content on Instagram and with AI features,” toggle the setting to “off.”
You can also change the A.I. settings for individual pictures and videos. Users cannot stop their audio, text and comments from being “reused” by Meta’s A.I., the company said.
Feel free to reblog for other people to vote. DO NOT SEND HATE TO ANYONE FOR WHAT THEY VOTED. This is merely for fun and to see what people genuinely think.
I posted this last night but I waited to share until I could finish the banner! I had to post because I am impatient and now I have yet another WIP that needs updating 😅 (I have half of chapter 2 done along with bits from later chapters)
Gathering Stones by: hazelbite on ao3
Chapter 1 - Pebbles in your palm
Summary: Fíli and Ori's backstory, from Ered Luin to Erebor, and beyond.
Missing scenes pre-Gold of the Daffodil through to I Carry Your Heart (and likely some time after).
Notes: the work title is a reference to children collecting stones as a way to hold onto memories and little moments in time.
WHEW just smashed out 4,341 words tonight! Love it when inspiration strikes.
So. What I’m working on (for all my GotD/CYH followers!)
It’s time for Fili and Ori’s backstory, from Ered Luin to Erebor. I had always planned to write this, after I added Filiori to the story, but I hadn’t expected it to be so soon!
These will be missing scenes from before GotD through to CYH. No title yet!
At least two chapters so far, but most likely more, knowing me 😅
Snippet from Chapter 1 under the cut:
There was one intriguing fellow trainee, Ori son of Quori. Fili knew he was the younger brother to Master Dori, the tailor who made all of their clothes, but Fili had never spoken with the other young dwarf as he had always seemed the quiet and shy sort and tended to make himself scarce whenever they visited Master Dori's stall.
He also knew that Ori was a couple of years older than him and not overly skilled with a sword or axe.
Which meant that Fili was shocked into stunned silence as he stared up at Ori from where the dwarf had him pinned to the training mat.
Turned out, Ori was better with a blade that Fili had first assumed.
Ori currently had the point of a dagger aimed at Fili's throat, at a safe distance, of course. Fili had his hands out to yield the sparring match, but was unable to speak the words as Ori stared down at him. His soft features and kind eyes were at complete odds with his steady hand and unwavering resolve, and Fili suddenly wanted to know everything about him, not just his name and family connections.
"Very good," Dwalin told Ori. Rare praise coming from him and something that Fili rarely got, himself. "Your brother teach you that?"
This seemed to be the sign Ori was waiting for as he stood easily, like he hadn't just had the best student of their age group at his mercy.
Ori nodded and slid his dagger up his sleeve so quickly that Fili would have thought he had imagined it even existing if it hadn't just been held to his throat.
"Master Dori taught you how to do that?" Fili asked, pushing himself up to sitting, incredulous to the point of disbelief.
Ori just shook his head without looking at him. "Nori did," he said softly, more to Dwalin than Fili himself.
New Bagginshield on a Saturday morning! (I posted it to ao3 last night but wanted to finish the banner before sharing here)
Title: Under the Willow Tree
Rating: E
Pairing: Bagginshield
Summary: Thorin and Bilbo find their own place of miracles under a willow tree in Beorn's garden.
Notes: This can be read as a one shot but I do have two more installments planned though not yet written. There is a reason this fic exists but I don't want to spoil it! It will likely be in the third installment.
Now that my writing break is over, I’m trying to make more progress on my many WIPs. I’ve already started posting The Second Song but the snippet below is from something I started working on last year.
It’s technically a one shot, though I do have two additional installments planned. But it can be read on its own.
I have the whole thing written but it needs several editing passes. Luckily, I have a ton of free time this week. Expect it soon!
Working Title: Under the Willow Tree
Word Count: 10k
Rating: E (I’m trying to expand my writing skills so this is probably the most explicit thing I have ever written.)
The snippet is rated G.
Working Summary: Thorin and Bilbo find their own place of miracles under a willow tree in Beorn’s garden.
Snippet below!
As soon as Bilbo realized that it was Thorin sitting there, a slow smile spread across his face, which was heartening, though Thorin was not quite sure what it might mean. Bilbo approached in a casual stroll, hands in his pockets and head slightly cocked in a silent question. Thorin took a puff off his pipe, just to give his hands something to do.
“What are you doing out here, hiding in the shadows?” Bilbo asked with a trill of lighthearted amusement.
Thorin held in the cloud of smoke a bit longer than usual—just to give himself a moment— before releasing it slowly, too agitated to bother trying a smoke ring.
“I thought to be alone for a while,” he said, simply, not wanting to admit to watching the Hobbit.
“Oh,” Bilbo said, taking a half step back. "My apologies. I’ll just—”
“It is alright,” Thorin added hastily, holding up a hand and hoping his internal panic wasn't apparent on his face. He hadn't meant his response to be a dismissal. “I find I enjoy your company… as long as I am not imposing on your own solitude.”
“Of course not,” Bilbo replied, visibly relaxing. “I enjoy your company as well.”
