tl;dr the fights in Dune (2020) are slow on purpose

@lauraontheleft here's the fighting styles trivia from the art book (to be updated when i've read the Fremen section):

- Jessica's fighting technique is based on a martial arts style created in the 17th century by Ng Mui, an abbess of the Shaolin temple; the technique is a form of self-defence that doesn't focus on size or strength, but on redirecting force;

- Duncan's style incorporates techniques from the various fighting styles he's encountered, including the Fremen's low-center-of-gravity-technique and circular sword movements;

- shields are made to stop bullets or high velocity weapons, so warriors have developed a "slow blade" technique to penetrate the shield, this required a specific fighting technique, the opposite of quick and strong blows. the swords also have an electronic component that slows them down as they approach the shield.
