Photo by @onlylivingirlny Father-daughter Route 66 road trip day four: Tucumcari Tonite! My second time here, but my first time seeing it at night (or rather, “nite”). Sitting outside in the pink neon glow of the Blue Swallow is a slice of heaven, 10/10, highly recommend. If I could choose one town to visit in its Mother Road heyday, it would be this one. Even now, it’s officially my favorite place to visit in the U.S. after South of the Border 💙 . We said goodbye to Texas with a long stretch of unpaved 66 (rental car insurance peace of mind for the win) and intend to fill up on green chili sauce and abandoned trading posts until Monday. At Seaba Station in Warwick on Route 66, has a gem inside a gem. On the westside of the building is a original 1920s rock outhouse building, which had at the time a state-of-the-art roadside restroom. Amenities included his and hers cast iron toilets, which conveniently flushed the entire time individuals sat on the rims of the toilets.  Seaba Station, Not only is it a original 1921 Service Station that predates Route 66. It was operational as the Seaba Repair shop until the 1990s. Vintage pumps from 1921 still remain out the front. It is now home to the 🏍Seaba Station Motorcycle Museum🏍 There are over 200 motorcycles of all names dating from the early 1900s to the present. Had dinner with Klaas van der Heide at Ann’s Chicken Fry house on Route 66 in OKC. The Hole in the Wall Conoco Station 101 South Main (Route 66) Commerce, OK This is a genuine relic of Route 66, a service station that was built right onto a brick wall in the late 1920s.
