This homemade fig jam is a delightful combination of fresh figs, sugar, and a hint of lemon. It's a perfect way to preserve the flavor of ripe figs and enjoy them throughout the year.
Ingredients: 1 kg fresh figs. 500g granulated sugar. Juice of 1 lemon.
Instructions: Wash and remove the stems from the figs, then cut them into small pieces. In a large pot, combine the figs, sugar, and lemon juice. Let the mixture sit for about 1 hour to allow the sugar to draw out the figs' juices. Place the pot over medium heat and bring the mixture to a boil. Stir frequently. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 30-40 minutes, or until the jam thickens. You can test the jam's consistency by placing a small amount on a cold plate; it should set and wrinkle when pushed with your finger. Once the jam reaches the desired consistency, remove it from heat and let it cool slightly. Pour the hot jam into sterilized jars and seal them tightly. Allow the jam to cool completely before storing it in a cool, dark place. Enjoy your homemade fig jam on toast, with cheese, or as a sweet topping for desserts!
