Best damn line in the manifesto launch for me (well, obviously apart from the break from the last 30 yrs/bedroom tax/House of Lords/rail renationalisationlite/okay a lot of lines) is this. Press reform will be continued with and not hidden in the attic like it was under Cameron.

If a portion of the poison in out democracy comes from shitty politicians, then as a great, if not greater, a portion comes from the likes of Murdoch, the Barclay brothers, Rothemere. Millionaires who have monopolised the way media works and are more establishment than the establishment - there’s no drive for the press to be on the side of the people any more, because why does that matter when one or two blokes own it all, and really don’t like the idea of redistribution? (Eg see: the farce that occurred when the Telegraph tried to pretend that millionaires affected by mansion and inheritance tax were actually ordinary middle-class ‘middle income’ people.) 

It’s worth also remembering that Labour is the only party that has both promised and has the wherewithal to do this - the Greens make noises about being different but they’re basically useless ‘uwu racist’ lumps, and the SNP try to pretend they’re not a part of this but Alex Salmond was covertly helping Murdoch to win the BSkyB bid in exchange for his support as late as 2011. I hardly think that’s changed under Sturgeon, either. Farage and Cameron are completely in Murdochs’ pocket, and the less said about poor Nick Clegg and his sadface the better. The only party with a shot is the one that’s already burnt all its bridges has had its leader, his father, and his dog attacked nonstop from all sides for five years, and owes nothing to the media.

Which is why that post about Labour being scared of the media pisses me off slightly have you honestly not been paying attention for the last four years, were you living under a rock?
