I am pretty much deciding between two worlds at the moment.
It's taken me quite a long time to get to this point, but to be fair I haven't really used tumblr a lot -- mostly just reblogging stuff, very (very) few original posts.
But a part of that is because my most beloved, who also used tumblr, died just over a year ago and part of the reason I was on tumblr, using this account, was because we shared posts with each other and used it to talk sometimes.
My original plan was to move to a new site, and to start writing there. I thought if I could start with a new account, and write there, then I could slowly migrate over there and move away from here.
Unfortunately -- and I cannot believe I am going to write this -- after two days of using the new site I managed to not only get banned from the site, but I got banned in such a way I was responsible for having a new rule written into the operating rules of the site.
Yes -- I did something so bad, so appalling, so heinous that they had to create a new rule just to stop people doing it again.
(If you want to know what it was keep reading under the "read more" tag, otherwise stop when you get to it. It will shock you!)
So now I have to decide on two things -- either to continue here, knowing........ well knowing that it is just me and that it will only ever be me.
Or I create a new account and start over, free from the past. Which I admit I am leaning towards.
I mean I know it will only be me, and only ever be me, but......... well, you get it, right?
I'm going to give it some more thought, and I realise that very few people are reading this so I am almost certainly talking to myself, but I'll follow this up in a few days with my decision.

My post -- the one that was so appalling that got a new rule added to the site and got me banned after two days -- was writing a cross-over quote from Harry Potter.
Apparently the site admins do not like the author, and do not want anything to with her on the site. Which is fine -- I have no problem with that. I am not a fan of hers either (there is plenty to testify to that on any number of sites). But despite my argument that the fandom has taken ownership of the stories, of the fanfiction and so on, apparently the site admit doesn't want anything from the world of potter either. It was "an implicit rule" that isn't mentioned anywhere and because I broke it it was then made an explicit rule.
Now here's the thing -- I write a lot of Harry Potter fanfiction. Writing it is as vital to me as breathing. And talking about the series, referencing the series, talking about the fiction, talking about the characters, quoting the series....... it just comes naturally to me. I do it without thinking.
The idea that I could spend more than two days -- two hours on a site and not reference it? No. It's just not going to happen.
So when I was told it was against the rules to even mention it, my immediate response was "how do I delete my account?" and because of that I was banned.
Now I'm sure you have an opinion as to whether this was my fault, or their fault, or both our faults, but I just want to make it clear I expressed no support for the author or any of her points of view. They are...... appalling, repugnant and I have nothing but contempt and loathing for them.
This was entirely about my...... my right, for want of a better phrase, to be who I am. Which is kind of ironic, given the reason I was banned.

I was thinking about this on and off before this story even broke the news but by and large it doesn't matter what consequences white supremacists who harass black people, on camera, in public, actually have to deal with because legions of fellow white supremacists are in the wings ensuring that they'll be fine throughout the ordeal.
