I think what I might like the most about books is that in our lives there is only so much we can experience, and thus understand, with anything even resembling fullness; but within the story you can be drawn into the experiences of a character and world in a way that is unique to the form, whether written or spoken, and while it is nowhere near the same as living the experience, it is the closest we can get and I think that counts for something as it encourages us to grow and question and learn and care and become more and more curious about the people and world around us even in the smallest of ways
