Challenge #04887-M138: Legends in the Flesh

Two centuries ago Wraithvine helped the folk of a river valley with a carnivorous fish problem. Imagine hir surprise to hear in a tavern on the far side of the continent that ze has helped them once again only a season behind and settled down in the valley with the prettiest child of the valley chieftain. Walk far enough and long enough, some legends say, and you will meet yourself coming the other way. Sometimes, somehow, that can come true... for interesting definitions of 'true'.

Fish River Valley used to be Blood River Valley before Wraithvine helped the people there solve the issue of the carnivorous fish. Hearing about that on the other side of the local land mass, two centuries and a decade or so after the fact, was not entirely alarming. It was a good story worthy of the penny players' stage.

It was the epilogue that struck like an assassin at midnight.

One of the most relaxing moments… Taking a shower to relieve the day's fatigue… I like to sit on the shower floor and wash my stumps, letting the water fall on them… The freedom of an old amputee DAK man… What do you think of that?

Today I decided to change my look. I'm going to be clean-shaven for a while… It's a very pleasant feeling to sit on the kitchen counter while the tap water runs close to my stubble… The freedom of an old man… What do you think of that?

I really enjoy taking pictures in front of the mirror in my small apartment… I like seeing myself as I always wanted to be and finally managed to become, a DAK amputee man… No longer having legs that were always useless to me… Just two stumps… Having to live always in a wheelchair gives me indescribably pleasurable sensations… I love admiring my stumps in front of the mirror… The freedom of an old DAK amputee man… What do you think of that?

Since I live alone in my small apartment, I practically take care of all the household chores that my current physical condition allows me to do. One of the things I really enjoy is rolling around the apartment on my transfer board and doing simple things like doing my laundry. I confess that no longer having my legs is so pleasurable and doesn't limit me in my daily routines. The freedom of an old DAK amputee man. What do you think of that?
