"What a dumb guy," Erika whispered, bending down beside the informant’s waist. How long had he been hiding there? And how long would he have been hiding if she had not shown up.

Alone in the alley she figured he was waiting for night fall, or for a different time of day when there weren’t so many people around. Glorious shiner or not it would look rather bad for his image if he came strolling with torn clothes and a crooked nose from between two greasy buildings.

"Couldn’t even get yourself up onto the roof, huh," she clicked her tongue at his appearance, his foot twisted slightly to the right; an unnatural direction. Though she supposed if he was any shape to parkour his way out of here he’d have done so hours ago.
