films 🎥 of unhinged humanity that i have watched with my cat 🐈 this weekend 💅:
kinds of kindness- everyone here is obedient like a dog that thinks its leash is love,- they beg for approval the way children beg for sugar—until their mouths rot,- relationships turn into contracts,- faith becomes a performance review,- desire is just another job,- it’s funny watching people worship their puppeteers, until you realize you’ve done it too
the wild- three girls go camping to escape grief and modern life,- everyone says they want “peace,” but peace is horrifying when no one is watching you perform it,- they are forced to actually feel—without an audience—and suddenly it’s the wilderness that’s honest and the girls who are feral,- you think you’re healing until you taste your own instincts and realize they have teeth
before the devil knows you’re dead- nothing is more american than committing a crime to afford your lifestyle,- brothers plan a heist like addicts chasing a high, and even the family loyalty they weaponize is just debt wearing a hug,- it is tragic that they destroy the only thing they still have—each other,- but it’s even more tragic that they thought they deserved better
watching all three, i have decided: people don’t crave freedom—just prettier cages.
control, escape, crime, grief… each character fights for a life they’re too afraid to live honestly,- and in the end, the wildest thing isn’t nature or evil or fate-
it is self-knowledge
no one survives looking in the mirror.
