No Way

[So, I was going to make an extra FFLM post showcasing moments that didn’t make the cut, since I thought that’d be fun. But, it seems that people aren’t that interested anymore. Okie. I’ll just share one thing for now:]

Mind; blown, y’all. Are you ready? This realization got me really good in the amazement and funny bones a while back, and I have been dying to share it. Now seems like the perfect time. (By the way: 75th post, yo! Yey.)

So, this shot, this iconic, titular shot of Xena riding strong and cavalier, totally awesome and badass, on her noble steed…

Well, see if you can guess what I’m getting at. Note the mount’s fuzzy fur, overstuffed ear, and skuzzy mane, how hard its body looks. Watch how it jerks into view and then kinda lurch-tremors around beneath Xena without moving a muscle. Seriously. Xena bounces around under her own steam while the horse’s ultra-defined neck and haunch bulges remain stiff as it “walks.” …Didja catch my drift? XP

I think old Argo here… is actually a toy! XD Much like, if not a replica of, the life-sized stuffed animal that I saw in my childhood at the giant F.A.O. Schwartz toy store in Caesar’s Palace, Las Vegas. …That I, of course, can’t find a picture of now. But am I the only one who sees this?! Am I crazy? Please tell me I’m not (for seeing this, anyway)! X”D

The best I could do for now. See the horse by the dragon’s right front paw?

The three main horses who played Argo were silky, their ears rotated a lot and were quite thin (like any other horse’s), and Tilly’s and Mac’s manes didn’t look like explosions of the itchy, half-soft, half… I dun-even-know-what (matted? greasy? starchy?) synthetic fiber that lots of stuffed animals were accented with back in the day, no?

Left to right: Tilly, the main horse who played Argo; Barbie/Barbara, the stunt-double who did more adventurous things like rearing and “fighting in battle;” and Mac, the male horse who could carry more than one person on his back.

Toys with similar coloring, fur, and manes. (None are quite right to what I am looking for, of course, but ah well.)

And it makes sense, doesn’t it? XWP might even have had to use a stuffed animal for legal reasons (i.e. not terrorizing a skittish animal like a horse with war sounds and fire). Hm. What do you guys think?
