Saw it all and I can't deny, it's a hard life living a lie
Saw it all and I can't deny:
It's a hard life, living a lie.
Back when they played music videos on television, this one resonated with me for whatever reason.
And that bizarre intangible moment of dissonance at 2:14 - I can’t even tell if it’s periodic or textural - is one of my favourite ‘mistakes’/unintended events ever left on a record.
I’m so glad someone finally uploaded this! Sloan live at Much Music in 2001 (Pretty Together era). I had only seen clips before. This is a pretty awkward interview. I don’t think they actually answered ANY questions, haha.
My favorite Sloan song. My favorite song, period.
With the news of their upcoming album, Commonwealth, I'm looking forward to the possibility that I may get to see Sloan again soon! The last time I saw the band was in 2011 when they were touring The Double Cross. Unfortunately, they never played close enough for me to get to any of the Twice Removed shows (which sucks, because I would have loved to see that!).
I took this video during the encore, with my digital camera. The picture is good, but the sound is terrible. I'm not sure how much of this was my camera, and how much was the actual sound system at the venue. I took a number of videos during the show, and the sound was poor in all, but this was the least bad of the group. It's also the most fun, because there's some audience participation! My favorite part is when Chris uses the microphone to push up his glasses, haha.
