hey atlas!! i have a hum hallelujah lyric interpretation ive been sitting on for a while now and i just thought i’d share!!! so obviously, fob has always addressed fans directly in their songs so i was struck by just how easily pete could’ve written “we are the dreamer and u r the dream” (aka the fans are a dream come true for the band) BUT INSTEAD, pete switched up the order and wrote “u r the dreamer and we r the dream” (aka the FANS are the ones who made this band possible by dreaming the band up. like, we fans were the ones who helped fob become a reality by supporting the music) idk, maybe switching up the wording doesnt seem very important, but knowing pete, i’m sure it was intentional hfmdjkds. with the first version, having the band be the dreamers and the fans being the dream almost makes it sound like the band comes first and the fans are just a side benefit of their career :((( but the version patrick sings feels so much more romantic?? with the FANS being the dreamers and the BAND being the dream, fob is fully ackowledging how indebted they are to us and how in the end, it was the fans who created all this. they are pretty much saying they wouldn’t be here if not for the fans AHHHHHHH

aghh omg yeah ur right!!! i've always loved that lyric a lot like... i hold it n that song very close to my heart n i just love how sweet and, ur right, romantic it sounds to say that the fans are the ones that made fob possible bc like 1. its true and 2. it just continues to affirm my belief that fob as a band truly never really meant to get famous and have always, to this day, just been in it for the music and their fans not the fame or fortune the comes with being as successful as they are, which just makes me feel so 🥺🥺🥺 it also rly strikes me how they perform hum hallelujah like A Lot bc its a popular song for not being a single, yeah, but still it isn't very well known so for them to play it all the time (like at reading n leeds!!!) feels like ... it makes me emotional god . fob literally loves their fans sm and it shows 🥰 n also i feel hum hallelujah is addressing the fans the whole time (constant 'you' and 'i' pronouns being used kinda shows that pete/the band is talking to Us) and it very much is a song for the fans and i love it
