Pretzel Bakery in Melbourne, Australia
West Coast Pretzels, 7617 Vineland Ave, Sun Valley, CA 91352
LA’s first soft pretzel bakery was started by a Philly native who missed Philly soft pretzels and developed his own recipe. You can order the pretzels online or at the brick & mortar location from the walk-up window. They’ll even deliver.
There are quite a few choices, including Philly pretzels, West Coast pretzels (same as Philly ones but a different shape), pretzel buns, pretzel dogs, pretzel pizzas, and even more choices with 1 day notice (e.g., Bavarian pretzels, Swabian pretzels, pretzel braids, pretzel bagels, etc. They also have water ice, dips, and drinks. The pretzels are hand-twisted and vegan. You can specify no salt, salt or extra salt – nice touch.
Philly pretzels (2 for $7.75): Two figure-eight pretzels are connected together. The exterior was much darker than your mall pretzel – and it had a lot more pretzel flavor. The pretzel had a firmer, chewier crust than mall pretzels.
Jalapeno cheese pretzel ($5): Delicious, doughy goodness with a chewier, stronger pretzel flavor, lots of cheese and jalapenos. I didn’t love the bits of salt since I usually get pretzels without salt.
Yummy pretzels! You can taste the love.
