terence higgs from our frat au, for @puddifoot
terence higgs was a boy who either draped a bulk of hoodies and jackets over himself, or walked breezily across the campus green in a pair of shorts, sometimes during the winter. he was a character of extremes, not because he had hoped to stand out or to attract attention, but simply because he was indifferent towards all things, and did things with the nonchalant nihilism of those who studied contemporary literature. he did whatever he pleased, and one could see that from the dark rings around his eyes, and the backpack he always wore only over one shoulder. he was a singular student, and the odd friend you don’t remember befriending, but sometimes these things just happen. sometimes, higgs just happened, and that was how things were at slytherin university.

one of the five faculties at durmstrang institute, the nature faculty is home to the bold and honest-hearted of the school. students in the nature faculty study a variety of natural magics from herbology and magical creatures to elemental sorcery and wand-making. other classes within the department include muggle studies, alchemy and potions, geomancy, astronomy, and tempestaria. the nature faculty is the most intuitive branch of magic to be taught at durmstrang institutes; students must be in touch with their own magical abilities as well as the atmosphere and environment around them in order to succeed. students at durmstrang typically finish their core studies in year two and choose to specialise in one faculty in their third year, and those who find their calling in the nature faculty often find themselves in the greatest variety of occupations, as knowledge in natural magic is elementary to many other practices of magic, and a mastery in natural magic is hard to come by due to the complexity and difficulty of the subject.
