Only Practice Makes Perfect
Summary: Reki doesn't know the first thing about kissing and after a bit of light-hearted taunting, gets the idea to practice with Langa. They're best friends, aren't they? So they should help each other out. Boy lips couldn't be that different from girl lips anyway. Langa, meanwhile, knows this isn't a good idea. Yet, if having Reki to himself is ultimately impossible, then might as well take what he can get--even if it is going to be painful in the end.
Their experimentation starts out innocently enough, but with curiosity and raging hormones at play, they might be too late by the time they go too far.

Bonus Chapter 1 - Preview #2
Sitting up in bed, Langa blinked blearily around his dimly lit bedroom, arm instinctively reaching out to pat at the spot on the bed beside him. Which was empty. Not surprising, but he always found himself checking to see if Reki was there anyway.
Groaning, he reached up and rubbed at his eyes, thoughts slow to come around.
It was… Thursday, right? And the time…
He reached out and tapped his phone atop his bedside table. 8:37, it read. Reki must have left for work already.
A little disappointed he’d missed him by only some ten minutes, Langa slumped in place and tried to remember what else was important for the day. Reki was gone, his mom probably was too. Which meant he was alone in the house, seeing as he wasn’t employed.
It was a fact that bothered him some, but given the number of skate competitions he had lined up for the summer, getting a job (or going back to Dope Sketch part-time) would be nearly impossible.
He knew both his mother and Reki were supportive, but, even so…
Ugh, it was too early in the morning for such heavy thoughts. Reminded by his bladder that he needed to pee, he yawned as he swung his legs over the side of the bed and stood. Naked as a result of his avid railing of Reki from behind the night before, he stumbled across the room to the bathroom, before subsequently stubbing his toe on the doorframe.
Swearing once, Langa cradled his foot in his hand as he hopped on one leg into the bathroom, before he whimpered and sank down into a crouch, to hold his toe. Which didn’t exactly do anything to ease the ache, but did somehow make him feel like it might.
Eventually releasing a sigh—once the pain in his toe had faded to a dull throb—Langa was about to once again set his focus on the toilet, but then his attention caught on the open shelves beneath the sink. Toilet paper was lined up at the front (something Reki was always reminding him of because he never remembered to replace the roll on the roller), while behind he could see some kind of…
Bag.

A/N: I haven’t really been posting much on tumblr, but I figure, if I’m posting this stuff on twitter, I probably should here too. This bonus chapter will go up on AO3 on Friday, but it’s already available on my Patreon!
Your Ghost (Preview 2)
"Renee."
Her eyes fluttered open. She wished it didn't feel like her body was moving through some sort of icy void. She needed to open her eyes. She needed to get up. But her body didn't want to move.
Where was she?
Oh. Her legs were completely asleep. Her back was hunched over the white table. Oh right. Psamathe, she was on Psamathe again.
"Renee."
Bloth. Her bloth.
"It's time to wake up." They told her. She could feel the coarse and calloused hand gently stroke the side of her face, moving the shorter black hairs away from her barely opened eyes.
"Bloth." She whispered unsure. This was a dream. Get love was gone. They had died before she could be there for them. They left her in the world broken and hollow. But they were here now.
"Renee, wake up. I'd like to go for a walk."
"Can't it wait? We could cuddle instead." She offered. She could smell the floral scent wafting off them in the breeze. They were already outside? If only the bright light of the sun didn't blind her.
"If you would rather nap, I could always fetch Elliott." Bloth looked at her. Across their face was a white medical mask, where they feeling ill again? The white mask stood out against their rich skin.
It felt like she was falling further and further into this dream. Was this the dream? Everything felt so real. Bloth looked so alive and happy. Her Bloth was here.
She placed a hand on theirs, forcing them to stop stroking her hair. "I'm up, I'm up. Don't bother him."
Somehow, deep in her heart, Renee knew Elliott was also napping. He would be even more distraught than she. He would accept this as reality, even though it felt as real as anything she had ever experienced, she didn't want Elliott to wake up here and leave her forever too.
She forced herself up, out of the chair with their help. The sun was still blinding, but she knew this place. The flower field outside of the hospital. They used to hide away here when she was much younger. The nurses would yell at Bloth because they were older and should know better.
"Why are we here?" She asked.
"I felt like going for a walk."
"We could walk anywhere. The city is nice this time of year. It's not too warm, not too cold. Plenty of dog parks. I know how much you love to visit them. And there's a nice little cafe that opened just down the street from my…"
"I wanted to bring you here one last time." Bloth cut her off. Their hand squeezed hers, as their sad eyes looked only at the flowers. "Just one more time looking at this garden with you."
"It doesn't have to be the last time. We can always visit each other. I still love you, Bloth."
"Renee." They let her hand slip away. "It's time. I've been watching. You can move on and be happy."
"But!"
"I'll still be here." They looked back to the table Renee had been at. She was right, across from where she was one sleeping Elliott Witt. "Someone needs to look after him."
"But we could…"
"Natalie is beautiful." They stopped her again. "I just wanted one more moment with you. Before I become a ghost of a memory."
.
Renee would never admit it, but she woke up crying and fearful. She needed to talk to Elliott again. She needed to know he was still alive.
Preview 2#
The city looked vibrant in the evening.
From the peripheral sight alone, a person would be bombarded with so many colorful lights from every angle. There are a plethora of advertisements for products, movies and tv shows, schedules for hover ships and blitz trains. On the sidewalks, there are people, from men to women, walking through this hyper metropolis. Their clothing aren’t extravagant but a smart person is able to figure out who is an elite and who is a commoner: The ones who are commoners have standard pants/jeans, standard shirts, standard shoes/boots. Their clothes don’t stand out and they feel as if they are invisible to the naked eye like they are unimportant. The elites, however? They’re wearing suits and dresses, but their clothes were able to fit the settings they were in. The color scheme stood out, it matched the bright lights through neon hues and it had the style to do so. The elites had neon crystal dresses, simmering lit shoes, advanced suits, and headgears that helped them figure out the time and/or the weather.
It’s a paradise.
.
.
.
Except it isn’t. When you get past the “beautiful” setting, the “spectacular” lights, and the incessant consumerism, capitalism, and materialism…It is simply hell. Not even the brightest star could be able to brighten the darkness that drowns this metropolis. Isn’t ironic that the brightest utopia can hold the most sinister secrets? That it can look like God has blessed this city when it’s Lucifer’s playground for the most wicked? Most people can’t get through the surface of this illusion, but there are a few who know the truth. They’re the ones who know that there’s something wrong with this city, the ones who are not fooled by the bright lights, the ones who can break past this hollow shell.
