kit  lets  out  a  groan  of  .  .  .  well,  he  doesn't  know  exactly  what  he's  feeling.  he's  uncomfortable  and  everything  is  tingly,  and  he  can  feel  something  wrong  with  his  head  for  sure,  he  just  doesn't  know  what.  his  eyes  narrow  at  tessa  as  she  speaks,  and  it's  not  out  of  anger  or  frustration.  he's  trying  to  focus  on  what  she's  saying.  ❝  i'm  hurt  .  .  .  ❞  kit  repeated,  blinking  slightly  and  shaking  his  head.  ❝  no.  i'm  okay.  nothing's  wrong.  really.  ❞  he  doesn't  want  tessa  to  worry  about  him.  he  can't  handle  that.  kit  can't  handle  being  a  burden  to  anyone,  and  he  doesn't  want  tessa  to  resent  him  for  needing  help.  he's  kit  herondale,  son  of  johnny  rook  .  .  .  he  can  take  care  of  himself.  he  stood  up  to  prove  he  could  actually  walk,  and  although  he  stumbled,  he  put  his  arms  out  to  steady  himself.  ❝  see?  good.  ❞
