I’m thinking reverse little mermaid here... a peasant girl that loves the ocean and gets turned into a mermaid by an evil witch pretending to be a kind magical godmother.

1. What was the first element of your OC that you remember considering (name, appearance, backstory, etc.)?
his hair! when i first dipped my feet into the fallout fandom my first exposure to mods was that dreadlock ponytail mod on someone’s character and i went, “...i have to create someone to go with that, holy shit” lol his story just kind of developed from there!
17. Is there some element you regret adding to your OC or their story?
not to get heavy on everyone but... making him kind of emotionally distant? there’s an awful trope with black characters where they’re often angry or emotionless and i didn’t know that when i was creating him? i didn’t do it on purpose (even if it’s still harmful) because my favorite kinds of characters are the tragic ones (think arthur morgan from rdr2) so i wanted the same kind of thing with him? i’ve been trying to make him a little more relaxed/friendly lately, but also have it work for him as a character, if that makes sense?
What is your favorite fact about your OC?
the fact that he’s one giant contrast. he’s traumatized and frustrated, but also very giving and protective of those he cares about. he’s got a short fuse but he’s also very soft with certain people. i didn’t expect all that when i was creating him at all! it just kind of happened!

1. What would your OC's last words be/what are they?Dollie's last words would differ depending on where we're at in the story. If she died before reaching the institute, she'd beg whoever she was with to find Shaun. Depending on the severity of the wound I like to imagine it would be "Please... Shaun... you have to..."
If she were to die later on after infiltrating the institute, what she'd say would depend on who she were with and what happened. For instance, if she got shot pushing, say, Curie out of the way, she'd just keep telling Curie it wasn't her fault until she was gone. If it were Danse before Blind Betrayal and for a while after Blind Betrayal she'd say something like "There's so much I want to say..." and after they have discussed their feelings and are an item it would probably be "I love you. Keep going."
2. What would break your OC beyond repair? Has it happened?Dollie went through a lot in her teenage years. She lived a rough life, despite the insistant love and affection of her family. She made a lot of bad choices and did some bad things, but she came out of it and set herself straight. Finding Nate and building a family of her own with Shaun, and becoming a lawyer and Acomplishing Something was her dream come true. It all came crashing down when the bombs dropped. She lost everything she'd spent years rebuilding.
It would have broken her if she'd never found Shaun, if she'd never found a way into the Institute, but honestly, getting in and finding out she failed him so completely shatters her so much. She never truly recovers. Finding out he grew up practically alone and brain washed haunts her for the rest of her life, even with synth Shaun in the picture. She regrets not protecting him, not doing more, she even regrets going into the Vault at all. Regardless of all the people she meets, the people she loves, the happiness she finds, she'll always wish in the darkest corner of her heart that they had died on the hill outside of Vault 111.
16. Your OC has exactly 15 minutes to live. What is their last act?With fifteen minutes left on the clock, Dollie would save everyone else that she could, if that were in question. She'd force or trick anyone that was insisting on being there with her to get to a safe place. She'd do everything in her power to sacrifice herself.
Also, she'd say the things she was holding back, tell loved ones she loved them or tell others to let them know. She'd thank people for all the things they'd done for her. Just as an example, if she were dying and there was nothing that could be done, whether or not she and Danse were "together" at that point she'd either go out of her way to tell him all of the truth about who she's been working with and what she's been doing to get into the Institute, the things she was hiding from him... and if she thought it would do more good than harm she'd tell him the last truth, that she was in love with him.
If this were later on when they'd been together for years and years, their family was grown and could sustain itself without them, I like to think they'd choose to go together. I can just see them fighting side-by-side one last time to save everyone else, but looking at each other and just knowing wordlessly that it was the end, and accepting it because it's the last thing they'll do together, so they make every second count.
