dani savin wardrobe no. 23: soapberry pride no. 1

– - Pride is very important to Dani. It wasn’t until the Pride Week events of their undergrad days that they felt supported and comfortable enough to come out publicly about their gender -- which is nonbinary. They were never one to shy away from their sexuality, however. They were fortunate to have been raised in an household where love is love is a natural concept. The anthropological aspects of their development, and certainly in their own experience, have likewise instilled in them a respect for the diverse customs and beliefs of different cultures. Culture is meant to be celebrated, not condemned, judged, or stereotyped. They actively strive to inspire these same values in their students and everyone around them.

As such, Dani will undoubtedly be active in Soapberry’s Pride festivities. Their boundless energy will be put forth into the celebrations and the activities in which they plan to take part. Their appearance fixed for the occasion, spotting them will not be difficult. Pictured above are the basic features you can expect to see in their weekly wardrobe. And yes, they (and their sweet little sister-in-law Freya Floros) are willing to offer assistance with themed makeup, hair coloring, or nails should anyone be seeking a bit more Pride flare.

– - Pride Parade attire!! Complete with a pair of bisexual colored skeleton leggings in support of their husband (whose shoulders they are likely to be spotted on).

dani savin wardrobe no. 29: soapberry pride no. 7

– - Gay Prom!! Tonight is the night. Soapberry’s Pride Prom will be Dani’s first (and likely last) ever prom experience. When they were studying at Soapberry’s local high school, the opportunity to attend with their classmates arose, but at the time, Dani found the concept overrated; besides, they had no one to go with. Instead, they spent the evening out drinking and causing trouble for the SBS Sheriff Department with the few friends they did have. This time around, they're finally taking the opportunity.

Dani has chosen to dress sharp for the event. They will be donning a black tux with leather Chelsea boots for footwear -- keeping things slightly more casual. Their floral bowtie has been paired with a cream-colored pocket square arranged in an unfinished fold. Two sets of earrings will be showcased -- the first, a small pair of looped metal hummingbird skull earrings pinned through their earlobe; the second, a pair of real snake rib earrings that hook behind their ears and reach to approximately two centimeters above their shirt collar.

MEADOWSWEET has provided the prom with all of its floral decorations free of charge. Rainbow carnations have practically taken over the venue in honor of Pride. Having spent most of the morning setting them up, the couple is more than ready to take advantage of the night ahead and enjoy themselves. @samuel-floros

Because their husband makes his living working with flora, Dani has made him a bouquet for a change. Rather than seeking out other floral shops in the area for material, they have constructed his bouquet of the wild flora available in the natural landscape surrounding their home. In addition, Dani has prepared a particularly special gift for Sam. Although the couple feels that physical rings are not required to represent their marital status, their shotgun wedding made Dani’s proposal seem like a fleeting memory (at least in their belief). To remedy their lack of a formal proposal, Dani will be getting down on one knee to present their husband with an official engagement ring. The ring is made of bone, carved and detailed by their own hand, with a small emerald inlaid by a lovely jeweler from Sackesugar. To save him the awkwardness of a hundred eyes falling upon them, they will be conducting this presentation privately.

– - Youth Day!! Apparently Dani’s daily theme of choice is... nonbinary dinosaur?? What can they say-- working with @lilo-el-lobo and @bumblingbrujo to help kids dye shirts and paint their faces has elicited wistful memories of chilling out with their smol werewolf puppy nephew, Noel. Who just so happened to adore dinosaurs. They’ve put their hair up as best they can for the event, using a black bandanna to keep their sad attempt of a ponytail in place. Ripped black jeans with tie dye leggings underneath, and some creative eye makeup, serve as their nod toward the activity itself.

dani savin wardrobe no. 28: soapberry pride no. 6

– - Open Mic Night!! Dani has three separate performances for Open Mic: a sword fight with @scarlettxruby, a set with @samuel-floros and their band Samhain, and a gay rock show duo performance of some Pride-essential Panic! at the Disco hits with @ashcaplan.

As such, they have three costume changes. The first is workout appropriate attire (left side) for their fight. The second is for the Samhain performance (center, top right), requiring a change into leather pants and combat boots, with the addition of a fringe kimono. The third (bottom right) is an exchange of the kimono for a black blazer with gold trim and thigh-high suede stiletto boots to really amp up the fun of their Panic! performance.

dani savin wardrobe no. 27: soapberry pride no. 5

– - Gender & Wellness Q&A!! As a nonbinary person with fairly notable local presence, Dani will be on the panel for the Gender & Wellness Q&A to answer questions, give sage advice, and speak on their experiences. Not pictured here, they have used a temporary dye to mark one jet-black streak of hair for the day -- a subtle dedication to a former friend and lover is not present, but played a pivotal role in their journey of identity, as they did for the other.

Unfortunately, I will not be available tomorrow morning due to work, so any panel questions for Dani can be sent through their inbox. I’ll try to get to as many of them as I can after work, assuming the Open Mic Night doesn’t possess me entirely.
