PRIDE FLAG NUMBER FIVE: TRANSGENDER

Created by Monica Helm, she described how the flag is symmetrical so that "no matter which way you fly it, it is correct, symbolising the correctness in our lives and identities".

Blue: traditional male colour

Pink: traditional female colour

White: intersex, non-binary, gender non-conforming and people who are in the process of transitioning

PRIDE FLAG NUMBER ONE: THE FIRST EVER PRIDE FLAG

To start us off, we're starting all the way back in the beginning with the first pride flag! Created in 1978 by openly gay man and drag queen Gilbert Baker, commissioned by the first openly gay man to be elected to office, Harvey Milk.

Hot pink: sex

Red: life

Orange: healing

Yellow: sunlight

Green: nature

Turquoise: magic and art

Indigo: serenity

Violet: spirit

PRIDE FLAG NUMBER FOUR: BISEXUAL

Created by Michael Page in 1998, the flag represents attraction to two or more genders.

Pink: same sex attraction

Purple: attraction to all genders/overlap

Blue: opposite sex attraction

PRIDE FLAG NUMBER NINE: GENDERFLUID

Created in 2012 by JJ Poole, the flag represents a fluid gender identity or switching between multiple genders

Pink: feminity

White: all genders

Purple: both genders (male + female)

Created in 2018, the flag represents the aroace (aromantic and asexual) community.

Orange: community

Yellow: love outside the spectrum

White: wholeness

The asexual flag was first used in 2010 and represents people who don't feel attraction.

Black: feelings of no attraction

Grey: the grey area between attraction and non-attraction

White: non-asexual partners

Created by Tumblr blogger Emily Gwen in 2018, the flag represents the lesbian community and diversity

Dark orange: gender non-conforming lesbians

PRIDE FLAG NUMBER ELEVEN: DEMIGENDER

The demi-gender identities are demi boy, being a gender in-between male and non-binary, demi girl, a gender in-between female and non-binary and demi-non-binary, a gender in-between gender neutral and non-binary. They are based in feeling a connection with one gender whilst not fully being it.
