Pride Week at Laurentian!
Hey everyone! Pride Week here at Laurentian University just began today so we figured it would be a good idea to make a post introducing students to the whole experience! Pride@LU is a pretty open and inclusive group, anyone is welcome to take part in Pride activities or visit the Pride office. Although Laurentian itself is pretty supportive - the Gender and Sexuality Diversity Committee helps with that as well - there is still quite a way to go before there is total acceptance within society, so Pride Week is a necessary part of bringing attention to the issues, showing support, and even introducing people to Pride@LU in case they happen to be uninformed.
As a little introduction to what Pride Week entails, this is the poster for Laureitna’s 2016 Pride Week. For more information on any of these activities, or even just Pride in general, you can link to the Facebook page. Astrid is also live-tweeting the Pride events on her Twitter account.
Remember, Pride is not specifically for queer students - as long as you’re an ally, then you’re welcome too! I hope to see everyone showing support for Pride@LU and the queer community at Laurentian for years to come, because the more support you can provide, the closer we get to crushing the stigmas within society associated with all things queer.
Much love to all, Ryan. xPadawanRyan on Twitter.
