Okay for all the new primalists. Fyrakk has THE MOST meme potential and I’m not even gonna pretend I don’t see the absolute CARTOONY DIRECTION this guy leans. It just. Works. Makes him a whole lot more like the magma/fire he represents but on the other hand I want him to kinda have a Disney Hade’s ish monologue in a cinematic because THAT would make a ton of use with his general vibe.
Primalist (Bloodrager Archetype)
It is obvious from the name alone that the bloodrager class is related to the barbarian, but while they each possess their own version of rage, each one taps into it differently for different sorts of abilities beyond the initial stat buffs.
However, at the same time, bloodragers are also quite common in the lands where barbarian tribes live, and as such, there is inevitably some blending of the two classes.
These so-called primalists (not to be confused with the wizard archetype of the same name), whether out of love for their people’s traditions, or perhaps fear of their own abilities, try to mix the power in their blood with the various traditions, techniques, and totemic magics of their people.
As these bloodragers grow in power, they can choose to focus on various techniques associated with barbarians to the extent that a power from their blood that they would normally get fails to manifest, and instead they gain two techniques associated with barbarian rage, which manifest during their normal bloodrage.
Essentially, this archetype lets you pick and choose what bloodline powers you want for your build, and replace the rest with barbarian rage powers that better suit it. If that appeals to you, this archetype might be a fun way to do things. It’s a very min-max sort of archetype, however, in the right hands it can also be flavorful.
Much like the crossblooded rager archetype, while, this archetype exists mostly for mixing and matching abilities, it works best when there are reasons why things are the way they are. Perhaps your bloodrager actually has a weak version of the bloodline, manifesting powers erratically. Or maybe the bloodline they manifest is shameful in their culture for one reason or another, and they pour themselves into the traditions of their people to try and drown it out. Alternatively, they might have a more positive relationship with their power, but also see the value of learning other, less overtly magical techniques.
The permafrost of Eukaro crackles with wild magic, and the tribes that live there are influenced by it. Most notable among them is the Runeblood clan, which often manifest arcane power in a variety of ways, but rarely ever consistently, though most prove quite resilient against hostile magic when whipped into a fury.
Rejecting his reptoid ancestry, the arcane power that Bellevue inherited has gone out of control granting him strange, unnatural shapeshifting abilities, yet he resists and fights them, focusing on directing his fury outwardly against his foes rather than deal with the shapechanging power within, and it is costing him his sanity.
When she discovered the taint of fiendish blood in her veins, Rimena turned to occult magics to try and expel the fiendish power from her body. Though only having limited success, she has succeeded in purging sin after sin from her body, or so she thought, each aspect of herself she cast aside forming into an alter ego entity, which now prowl the land, each supporting an aspect of her discarded abyssal powers.
I swear to fucking god I've changed my build like 4 times in the last 3 days
There's gotta be some form of connection between becoming an elemental Ascendant the Twilight's Hammer way and becoming a Primalist, right? It's too similar for there not to be.
There probably is, but I mostly wanted to bring it up to revel in the design possibilities for shaman that ascend that this brings up.
A somewhat older version of my DnD character, Ace the primalist Gujrat, I’ll upload the newer version once I find it, if you wanna know more about him feel free to ask~
