Phone photos

Whenever I go out with a certain group of friends, someone inevitably starts a phone photo brag off...   "Look at my new kitten sleeping on top of the dog. Aren't they so precious?" "Aww, well look at my 6yr old daughter reading aloud to the new baby. She is smart and adorable" "Well... wanna see my Sarah blowing spit bubbles against the window? It was fricking cute till it sent Dean into an aggressive display and he almost broke the glass. My baby boy is jealous, you know?" *crickets* "Oh dear god, she's talking about her primates again.."

Work at night is creepy

It's 2130hrs here and the office is empty... Except I keep hearing noises and my imagination is telling me that the are monkeys in the vents.

I know someone who told Koko that she smelled good (in gorilla sign language this is "Koko stink good"). She replied "you love gorilla stink" and proceeded to let out a huge fart.  I'm just saying.  She knew what she was doing.

I shouldn't even be surprised anymore

The oft-cancelled Uber Big Wig meeting was, you guessed it, cancelled once more.

I mean... this time it at least kinda makes sense.  With the storm moving in this evening / tomorrow, the whole research community is scrambling to get as much done as possible today. If the forecasts are right everyone will probably be on critical technical / care staff tomorrow (animals don't care about snow days!). So the U.B.Ws have cancelled. I don't have to like it.... but at least I understand it...

Honestly, all I want right now is some allogrooming and my bed.

But that can't happen so I'll just have to go spoil my monkeys a bit extra today. Lipsmacking, coo vocalizations, and grooming solicitations always cheer me up.

Free samples and false advertising

Sometimes different vendors will send me (/The Company) product samples. One of the facility managers just gave me a small box. Inside there are two cold little sample cups of "Solid Water"

Me: Wait. Solid water? Did they just send me ice? C: No, smarty pants. That's not what Solid Water is.  Me: Ummm... I'm pretty sure that solid water is literally the definition of ice. C: No no no. Not solid water. Solid Water. It's like a hydration gel. Me: *glares at the packaging*  Lies.

Uber big-wig meeting cancelled at the last minute... again. Not sure if people don't actually understand how busy my schedule is and all the work that goes into my social housing reports... or if they really just want to find out what happens to a chief behaviorist under prolonged exposure to high cortisol.
