Different monsters

Esdeath and Prime Minister Honest were both the corrupting influence of the Empire, and the final antagonists of the series, but I like to think that their horror and callousness operates in different levels. I think Esdeath represents the cruel dimension of nature. She applies to human society the same rules that operate within the natural world. Within this mental dimension only the strong survive, and the weak are rooted out without mercy. 

This parallel to nature is fortified by the fact that Esdeath summons an “Russian Winter”, and is thus compared to a natural disaster. 

If Esdeath is the merciless force of nature, Prime Minister Honest represents the horror of the modern, political society. Honest is the stereotypical politician of modern day, who cares for no one other than himself, and cementing his own power. He seems to have no ideals, other than getting more power. Honest embodies the horror of living under a totally corrupted, dictatorial rule.  

The almost never ending hunger for more power, is probably symbolized by the authors showcasing Honest almost always eating something, when he is on screen. Then again Esdeath lives for war, and always seeks more conflict to appease her symbolical appetite for battle. 

I also find their deaths interesting, since they seem to be total contrasts. While Esdeath is defeated by Akame and she dies because the curse enters her body, I think Esdeath managed to attain a level of control over hear death. 

She seemed to freeze her entire body and shatter it, before the curse killed her. By saying “Now I die”, she decided herself how and when it is, that she will die. All in all I think Esdeath`s death is an elegant and somber one. The reader is shown how even thou all of her power, Esdeath was not able to win Tatsumi´s affection. 

Honest´s death is a total opposite of this and truly horrifying. Honest has zero control over the way he dies, and his death is long and agonizing one. He is tortured and sliced to pieces by the citizens of the Empire, and it takes a long time until he finally perishes.

کسی مجبور وزیرِ اعظم نے کبھی استعفیٰ دیا ؟

پچھتر برس سے سنتے سنتے کان جھڑ گئے کہ پاکستان میں اب تک کوئی بھی وزیرِاعظم اپنی آئینی مدتِ اقتدار پوری نہیں کر پایا۔ ہر وزیرِاعظم انتحابی یا نامزدگیانہ رسم سے گزر کے جب پہلے دن کرسی پر بیٹھتا ہے تو اس سے زیادہ اہل، جانفشاں، زیرک، ذہین اور ملک کو بیک بینی و دو گوش مسائل کی دلدل سے نکالنے کی صلاحیت رکھنے والا کوئی نہیں ہوتا۔ اور جب اسے کسی بھی آئینی یا بالائے آئین حربے سے چلتا کیا جاتا ہے تو اس سے زیادہ نااہل، کرپٹ اور معیشت و نظام کی لٹیا ڈبونے والا کوئی اور نہیں ہوتا۔ ریاست کا وہی پبلسٹی اور مارکیٹنگ ونگ جو ہر نئے وزیراعظم کو ارسطوِ سے بھی سوا درجے اوپر کا ثابت کرتا ہے۔ تین سے چار برس بعد اسی ارسطوِ کی قانونی و غیر قانونی معزولی کے سمے اسے شیطان کا خالو قرار دینے میں لمحے بھر کی دیر نہیں لگاتا۔ اکیسویں صدی کی سائنس بھی اس سوال کے جواب میں بغلیں جھانک رہی ہے کہ ’آئن سٹائن کے لیول کا دماغ‘ صرف تین سے چار برس وزیرِ اعظم کی کرسی پر بیٹھے بیٹھے کیسے چغد قرار پا جاتا ہے؟ اس کا بظاہر مطلب تو یہ نکلتا ہے کہ یا تو اسے کرسی پر بٹھاتے ہوئے جھوٹ بولا گیا یا پھر ہٹاتے ہوئے سچ نہیں بتایا گیا۔

اگر یہ مان بھی لیا جائے کہ دونوں بار سچ ہی بولا گیا تو ایسا کیوں ہے کہ جسے پہلی بار کرپٹ، نااہل اور کامن سینس سے عاری قرار دے کر معزول کیا گیا اسے چند برس کے وقفے کے بعد دوبارہ اسی کرسی پر بٹھا دیا گیا اور پھر نااہل و سازشی وغیرہ وغیرہ قرار دے کر ہٹا دیا گیا اور پھر ایمان دار فرض کر کے تیسری بار اقتدار تھما دیا گیا اور پھر چھین لیا گیا اور پھر بلاواسطہ انداز میں سونپ دیا گیا۔ ہر وزیرِ اعظم ناطاقتی و بے اختیاری کا اتیاچار مسلسل سہنے کے باوجود آخری گھنٹے تک آخر کس امید پر اپنی لولی کرسی کے ہتھے پکڑے رہتا ہے؟ نااہل سے اہل پھر نااہل پھر اہل پھر۔۔۔ یہ تو گنیز بُک میں درج ورلڈ ریکارڈز سے بھی اوپر کا معجزہ ہو گیا۔ اتنی بار تو غریب حسرت موہانی کو بھی جنوں کا نام خرد اور خرد کا نام جنوں رکھنے کی جرات نہیں ہوئی۔ اس کا مطلب تو پھر یہ ہوا کہ اقتدار دینے اور لینے والا کوئی اور ہے اور عام انتخابات کی مشق اور عوامی طاقت کا احترام تیسرے درجے کے ڈرامے میں ڈالے گئے بے جان مناظر کے سوا عملاً کچھ نہیں۔

ہم یہ مرثیہ تو سنتے ہیں کہ مجھے کرسی پر بٹھایا تو گیا مگر میرے ہاتھ پاؤں بندھے تھے اور جب میں نے انھیں ڈھیلا کرنے کی کوشش کی تو مجھے ڈنڈا ڈولی کر دیا گیا مگر یہ بات تب ہی کیوں پتا چلتی ہے جب اٹھا کے باہر کر دیا جائے۔ ہر وزیراعظم ناطاقتی و بے اختیاری کا اتیاچار مسلسل سہنے کے باوجود آخری گھنٹے تک آخر کس امید پر اپنی لولی کرسی کے ہتھے پکڑے رہتا ہے؟ اسے کیوں یقین ہوتا ہے کہ جو پچھلوں کے ساتھ ہوا وہ اس کے ساتھ نہیں ہو گا۔ حتیٰ کہ کرسی سمیت محل کے باہر فٹ پاتھ پر نہ رکھ دیا جائے۔ یا تو وہ اس ادھاری عرصے میں اپنی تصوراتی بااختیار جنت میں مست رہتا ہے۔ عین ممکن ہے دماغ مسلسل کچکوکے لگاتا رہتا ہو کہ عہدے کا چپکا ہوا ٹیگ بھی اتار پھینک مگر دل کمینہ احتجاجاً استعفیٰ دے کر باہر نکلنے سے روکے رکھتا ہے۔ یا پھر اس کرسی گیر کو لگتا ہو گا کہ اگر جراتِ رندانہ سے کام لینے کا خطرہ مول لے لیا تو آگے کا ایک فیصد چانس بھی کہیں مارا نہ جائے۔

اسی لیے ہم نے آج تک سابق وزرائے اعظم کا رونا گانا تو خوب سنا مگر پچھلی ساڑھے سات دہائیوں میں ایک بھی مثال ایسی نہیں کہ ان میں سے کسی ایک نے بھی لاچار کرسی کو لات مارتے ہوئے نعرہِ مستانہ بلند کیا ہو کہ جہنم میں جائے تمھاری خیراتی سرپرستی۔ میں اب تب ہی لوٹوں گا جب عوام اپنے کندھے پر بٹھا کے خود اس محل کی چوکھٹ پر اتاریں گے۔ اب تو مجھے اکثر لگنے لگا ہے کہ کسی بھی سیاستدان کو عوام اور جمہوری طاقت پر اتنا بھی یقین نہیں رہا جتنا عہدِ حاضر کے مولوی کو خدا پر ہے۔ عوامی طاقت آج محض تاش کا وہ اکا ہے جسے دکھا کے پاور کیسینو میں اپنی سودے باز حیثیت جتانے کی کوشش کی جاتی ہے۔ چنانچہ کسی کو بھی اب کسی کا دیوانہ بننے یا زیادہ سنجیدہ لینے یا منھ سے جھاگ نکالنے یا ایک ٹانگ پر ناچنے کی ضرورت نہیں۔ یہ پالٹیکس نہیں پالیٹینمنٹ ہے۔ بس مفت کا سرکس دیکھیے اور ’انجوائز ‘ لیجیے۔
