Um if any of you guys want a Primeval hoodie in Animal Crossing New Horizons (I haven’t got pics, can’t be bothered) I put one up. Look up “Primeval” and it’s like the only thing there. It’s just got an anomaly on the front and says “A.R.C” on the back, nothing special, but I was bored this morning and made it. I think it looks pretty decent. Anyway

I do love the Dracorex episode of Primeval

But how is Sir William finding and touching his grave in his future any different to Captain Ryan finding his grave with Cutter in the future and causing all the Claudia/Jenny timey wimey stuff?

Also Sarah, I feel like giving a medieval child a whole bar of modern chocolate will do more than damage his teeth

Primeval Ficlet for Notababoonbrandishingastick

Sorry it took me so long to get this finished!! It turned out to be more of a ficlet than a drabble, because Lester wouldn't be quiet. It's nominally Connor x Abby, but really it ended up focusing on Lester somehow. Err....sorry?

Apologies to any Brits among my followers if I've totally screwed up the geography...I googled the nearest "nice" beaches to London and this was what I found that also worked for the purpose of the story. :D

Without further ado:

Title: "Lester's Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day."

“No, but, y’see, if-”

“Connor,” he interjects again, this time slightly louder.

“-it all makes sense if y’just think that-”

“CONNOR!” this time, it’s a shout, accompanied by a glare that all but pins the younger man to the carpet in front of the desk. He finally falls silent, and Lester looks away, drawing in a measured breath and rubbing at the pounding pulse that has started to throb at his temple. Exhaling, he looks up, fixing Connor with a steely gaze only slightly less foreboding than his previous glare. “Start again,” he all but growls. “From the beginning. And this time, perhaps, for a laugh, do try to make sense.”

Connor inhales deeply and once again launches into the rambling tale he’d first started a few moments ago when he’d burst into Lester’s office, out of breath and, for some inexplicable reason, dripping wet. “Well, y’know you’d given Abby and me the day off and we thought we’d take a day trip to Southend-on-Sea…there’s an exhibit at the Royal Pavilion that…” he trails off as he notices Lester’s eyebrow arch threateningly. “…right. Anyway. Lovely day. Going well. Lunch was, ah…tasty. And then we were having a nice walk along the pier before visiting the exhibit…when…ah…”

“When?” Lester queries, leaning forwards, his arms crossed over his chest. “When what?!”

“Squid,” Connor blurts abruptly.

“Squid?” It is so unexpected, and Lester is so shocked, that he abruptly sits back in his chair, his stare never leaving Connor.

“Er, really big squid?” Connor clarifies. “Coming out of an anomaly that materialized on the end of the pier.”

“And somehow this led to your impersonation of a mermaid, I take it,” Lester says, the throbbing in his head only seeming to intensify with each revelation in Connor’s convoluted story.

“Don’t y’mean merman?” Connor asks.

“Do I generally give you the impression that I mis-speak?” Lester looks him up and down, noting the growing pool of water accumulating beneath the younger man. He sighs. He’d just gotten this carpet, and now it was going to have to be replaced. Ah well, at least he thinks he can figure out a way to get the Home Office to pay for it. He shakes his head, trying to get his focus back. The sooner Connor finishes his explanation, the sooner this whole mess can be put behind them. “So, what happened next?”

“Abby went back to the truck to get the EMDs and one of the locking devices and I tried to distract the, ah…squid and keep it away from the crowd, and…ah…just as she got back, I might’ve, ah, fallen off the pier.”

“Good God,” Lester stands as he speaks, disbelief coloring his voice.

“Oh, it’s not so bad as all that, I mean, it wasn’t that far down to the water and, I mean,” he gestured to his sodden self, “I survived, so…”

“Not that,” Lester says, coming around the side of his desk and advancing on Connor. “Are you telling me that you took an ARC vehicle, loaded with weaponry, on your…on your date?!” by the time he finishes he’s standing close enough to Connor that he can see the younger man’s eyes widen perceptibly.

“Uh…” Connor stammers, paling visibly. “Does it help at all that we locked the anomaly and brought the specimen back for examination?”

That brings Lester up short. “D’you mean that your girlfriend has added an oversized…calamari to her blasted menagerie?!” Connor starts to answer him, but Lester holds up his hand, cutting the other man off short. “You know what, never mind. Just…go. Get changed, see to that creature, do whatever it is you do, just let it take place somewhere other than my office.”

As Connor hustles out and nearly trips over himself racing away down the corridor, Lester looks down at the puddle the young man had left behind on the expensive, handwoven carpet he’d personally selected for the office. Pressing the intercom button on his phone, he says wearily, “Jess. I’m going to need you to get me the requisition forms for replacing office furnishings, dispatch personnel to cleanup the aftermath of Abby and Connor’s little seaside adventure…oh, and bring me one very, very large glass of Scotch.”
