Unhinged Primo anon here lol, take your time with the thoughts, I can understand there are many. But as a follow-up, what are your thoughts on PrimoChain? I've seen the ship floating around some posts and I gotta admit I love it since Chain is the only ghoul exclusive to Primo's era + chains are badass, very fitting for Opus Eponymous vibes + a lot of Primo's songs feature heavy bass, meaning it could potentially be his favourite instrument. Do you have a design for him?
I don't think I've ever seen anything about the ship :0! And I'll be honest - before this ask, I'd never really thought about Chain :']
So I thought about them and now I have some thoughts
Again, all personal headcannons, of course.
I don't think Primo does relationships, at least, not in the traditional sense, anyway. He has an aversion to the idea of romance. His father set a horrible example of it, tainting his view of romantic love from an early age. His distaste for the general population doesn't help either, as he believes that most people are vain, shallow creatures. So, he doesn't see a point in romance.
And he wasn't kidding in that one interview; he doesn't like foreplay, he doesn't like intimacy, he just doesn't like being touched. He's definitely on the ace spectrum. He's not entirely repulsed - as he said, he's not against gratification, and he's definitely not against self gratification - but he'd wouldn't actively seek it from another person.
So, Primo has convinced himself not to bother with romantic relationships.
And then there are his beliefs about Ghouls.
He sees Ghouls as tools, not people. Ghouls, like demons, are under contract, summoned for a purpose, to follow commands. They only obey because of their contracts. He doesn't trust them. Doesn't believe them capable of anything genuine.
He doesn't approve of Terzo's relationship with Omega, and he doesn't approve of Copia's closeness with his Ghouls. The old man is prejudiced against Hell creatures.
All of that to say that it's fun to ship him with a Ghoul lol Someone give me a Primo/Chain (or other Ghoul idk) slow burn enemies to lovers rn
All of the Ghouls Primo summoned were a lot more monstrous than the Ghouls Terzo and Copia would come to summon, later. Chain is eldritch.
Chain can't speak - his semi-human form just wasn't made for it. He can squeak, and click, and chitter through his long, thin, needle-like teeth, but he can't form human words. And he doesn't have legs. He has tentacles that he can glide around on. Somehow.
He is truly a creature from the abyss, all tentacles and bioluminescence. His favorite activity is floating at the bottom of the Ministry's lake, where everything is silent, dark, and weightless.
Chain is a nervous creature, especially when he was first summoned. He'd get so nervous around Primo that his tentacles would tie themselves into knots, worrying over themselves. After one too many painful, begrudging untanglings, Primo found him some chains that his tentacles could play with, hopefully getting them to ignore each other.
And that's what started feelings for Chain. Suddenly Primo had a silent observer, following him around the garden, attending his masses, and sharing the library. And Primo doesn't know what to make of him - first he was annoyed, then he was suspicious, and then he came to expect the strange, silent presence. Then he started to enjoy the company.
That's all I got for them lol Chain is a bit of a freak and so is Primo. They might not match each other's freak, but they complement each other's freak.
