Fic title: “but maybe, just maybe”

it’s probably cheating to use a fic/au idea that i’ve actually had for years but haven’t done anything with, but this gives me an excuse to flesh it out, sO and it’s technically canon compliant so let’s all be sad

When Fitz wakes up from the Framework, he has the memories from when he was inside, and what happened right before. He remembers how it wasn’t Aida who put the helmet on him, how it wasn’t her who uploaded his consciousness, and the promise of safety that came from the person who did.

Not only does he remember the life of The Doctor, of Leopold, of all the pain and trauma he experienced, but he remembers the other life he lived inside the program. It was a life with two loving parents, with support through science fairs and homework, where his name was Leopold Radcliffe, and everything was perfect.

Now that he’s back in reality, he has to go on with the memories of two new lives, and figure out what to do about it.
