MONSIEUR PRINCE CHARMING | PREVIEW
// So this is a preview of my unpublished and on the works book "Monsieur Prince Charming". I wanted to share a snippet, the first chapter, of it and see if anyone likes it. Maybe in the near future when I feel confident enough, you might find it in Wattpad.// CHAPTER ONE - Bonjour, bonjour France! - Where I stood on the Eiffel tower overlooks the breathtaking Champ De Mars. Everything you could see is from up here. The bright shining sun intensifies the grass wearing green. Also with the small figures as people shifting about below me. Today is the definition of a perfect day- the clear blue sky and cottons of white clouds. It is surely a scene to remember. So with that, I took out my vintage film camera my mother gave me as a gift before I went away to this trip when I met up with my parents. I moved a few steps back before bringing the camera to my face, peering into the eye lens. I'm particularly precise with my shots. Photography always has caught my attention. There is always a hundred words in a picutre, a deeper meaning - a story behind it. And I would exactly like my pictures to potray that. Make it clear for people to know that there is more to say from my captured moments. I pressed to shutter button making a click sound; a photo taken, "Don't tell me you took a photo without me in it" I turned towards Julia, my best friend who brought the idea of making our summer break a worth rather than anticipating the next school year at NYU. So we gathered all of our savings from highschool graduation (and some help from our parents) and booked the cheapest flight here. Though we did think well of where we would be staying. Less spent on the flight rather than an average amount on it would mean a better hotel. Our accomodation might not be the most extravagant but not the worst. It's just enough to not regret our trip here if we don't get a nice rest. Besides, there is still much left from our budget to spend for shopping. "It was just a test shot" I joked. I looked around me for someone to take a photo of Julia and I. It was crowded with people though I would have thought that it would be filled with more. Seeing a young adult who seems to be kind from his appearance, I called, "Uhm, excuse me sir" He looked at me and smiled. "How may I help you, mademoiselle ?" he asked with a hint of a french accent in the end. "Is it all right if I were to ask you to take a photo of my freind and I?" I asked waving my camera with an approachable look. "Of course" he said and took my camera. Before going to Julia, "Oh, just press that button there" I pointed at the shutter button. He gave me a nod and put the camera infront of his face. I stood beside Julia and had our backs turned towards the camera. We both leaned against the railing and looked at the distance as a gush of wind made both of our hair fly away to the side. A sudden thought that the picture would have captured the perfect moment - that's if the guy caught it at the right time, of course. "Here you go" I heard the man say handing me bac the camera. "I'm pretty sure I got it at the right moment when your hair flew to the side, making a nice picture" he said exactly imitating my idea. I gave him a heart warming smile and took the camera. "Merci beaucoup. Bonne journée " I thanked and greeted him a nice day. Julia and I walked off as she gave him a smile. "I really should have paid more attention at French class" she implied. I laughed at what she said. "That was like 3 years ago until you dropped it at the last year" "Oh well I didn't think it would come in handy" She hooked our arms together while we made our way towards the elavator and whispered, "You got to admit, he's kinda cute" Chuckling, "Ehm... not really my type but yeah I guess he is" I stated my honest opinion. "You should have asked for his name" "Nah, leave it. It's not like I live here anyways" "Well...think of it though, a french boyfriend" I teased. "That does sound cool but I don't want to upset Dan" she said with an obvious excusive tone. "He did seem quite upset to hear you'll be gone for Paris" I sated, remebering his reaction when Julia told him. We reached the line to the only access to the bottom which wasn't as long. "How are you guys by the way? You went to a couple of dates with him, right?" "Yeah, I did. I just don't know if he's really in to me, you know? I mean I'm willing to comit to a relationship with him and I hope he sees that but I just can't seem to figure out if he feels the same way" "This is probably the most cliché advice ever, but you just have do be patient with him. He's probably thinking the same thoughts as you right now, and just waiting for the right time to ask you" I managed to say with little experience myself. Don't get me wrong, I have been in a few relationships but they've never really worked out how I expected it to. All the guys I've dated, I liked. I never loved any of them because they didn't treat me like it. For me, at least. It's like they have their own definition of love unlike mine. At last it was our turn to ride the quite small, quite rackety elavator. Julia and I squeezed in along with six more people. I honestly have no clue how we all fit inside. It wasn't long until the lift halted to a stop on soil ground, well cement rather. We all stepped out and walked out of the cramped space where we stood. I embraced the open area with such eager. Any more longer compressed in that area, my clastrophobia might take over. "You okay? Quite a tight space on the lift" Julia asked who was aware of my fear of confinment. "I'm fine, thanks" I gave her a reassuring sile and hooked our arms once again. "So, do you want to get something to eat?" I asked as I look at my watch. It was just a little bit past lunch. "Sure. I heard of this cafe called Cafe De Flore " she attempted a French accent, which to my surprise nailed it. I gace her an awed look and Julia cheekily replied, "The only thing I learned in French was the accents" I shook my head while a beaming smile on my face.
