Awakening’s a mid-tier FE game. It’s not astounding, but it’s got its good points and it’s far, far, far, far, FAR from the messes that were Shadow Dragon and FE6.
I actually liked FE6, yo. The story wasn't spectacular, but it was a trial-and-error game. They introduced new things that we've come to take as staples (actual ranked support conversations being one). They also had so many characters that were relevant to the story beyond recruitment, which I liked. It took what did and didn't work from previous games and remedied it, also giving us a(n improved) rescue system which has been used since, up until FE11, and then tweaked again in FE13.
Shadow Dragon was a remake that never should have existed. It was also trial and error, and sure, it gained some Western fans. But honestly, it was a wreck with no good points. Even the animation sucks. FE3 was a much better remake-- I'll definitely stand by that. Same with FE12, that game was also a wreck. I didn't like MU then and I don't like MU now. I'm not fond of the way they literally changed the story to give the player a place in it when it was already fine.
FE13 would probably fine without MU, too. I think it absolutely ruined the few emotions the game evoked in me when they revived Killed Off For Good characters JUST for you to marry.
....Emmeryn not having a support with Chrom or Lisa? That's BULLSHIT. If you're going to ruin what you insisted had to be the most tragic part of the game, then do your part to make sure you compensate for ruining it, guys. This is, in effect, saying that you don't respect her as anything other than fanservice. The same goes for the others like Gangrel.
