The virgin Edelgard vs the chad Ferdinand.

About that new soundtrack cover I'm imagining Sothis is playing the Song of the Nabataens on that harp while Rhea is sleeping by her just like how that song would always lull her to sleep when she was a child and her mother sang it to her as a lullaby.
Thanks, in crying over Rhea now.
Edelgard's plan only making sense on surface level is what I've always thought. But when pointing this out Edelstans either argue that at least it's better than Fodlan under tyrannical dragon lady Rhea or that she at least has a plan as opposed to Dimitri (which of course because he didn't start a war in the first place).
No on surface level her plan appeals to your emotions not your rationality. That's not a good thing in politics because like it or not too many people's lives are at stake to be blinded by emotions. ESPECIALLY when said plans involve a declaration of war.
At least most of Claude's endings talk about his political reforms taking time and involving like meetings and dialogue. Likewise Dimitri's reforms claim to take years and involve giving the people a say in their government.
I saw something interesting in the DLC. Edelgard says something about apologizing in place of her "useless father". Now I would be interested in what the Japanese line was to see if a similar sentiment was expressed there. But as it is, this stands out because every time Edelgard has mentioned her dad in the game she's never talked down about him. She has even said she understands he couldn't help things cause he was powerless. And I can't think of a reason for her to badmouth him here as a lie.
Yeah I don't have a good reason why in this one instance she says it like that.
This DLC raised a lot more questions than answers honestly.
Speaking of people who wouldn't join Edelgard because it makes no sense there is one who doesn't! None other than the Gatekeeper. If you do CF he's replaced by his less cheerful brother who says Gatekeeper was very devout. It really says something when the Gatekeeper has more gal than the rest of the cast. Considering how popular Gatekeeper is I'm shocked no one ever brings this up
Gatekeeper one of the few people in the game who sticks to his morals
Did you see that one book in the Abyss library that carried the implications of TWSITD were responsible for both the Kingdom breaking away from the Empire and the Leicester Alliance breaking away from the Kingdom? Completely against the claim Edelgard made about the church being responsible for both events.
Yes I did.
Edelgard really doesn't know what she's talking about does she?
"and the Agarthans were given the secrets of their Technology from The Nabateans" Hmm? I don't recall seeing this. Was this in a part of the new DLC? I admit it'd neat to know if that's the case, since it'd be something to throw out at the Humanity Fuck Yeah crowd that surrounds Edelgard ("the agarthans didn't even achieve their tech, they got it from the same race they used Nemesis to genocide")
No this isn't new information it's in the base game
Sothis came to Fódlan, created the Nabateans and the Nabateans shared their knowledge and skills with the Agarthans in order to create their technology.
You can see it in the Golems both use. Rhea's Golems look more archaic but they function almost identically to the Golems the Agarthans use.
The society the Agarthans "built" would never have been a thing without Sothis and her Children giving them the Knowledge and the Tools to do so.
Which is why when they used that technology to turn on Sothis herself it was considered a betrayal.
Back then people would hate you for siding with Mohr because it's "evil" but now these same people are on Edelgards side. Pretty ironic if you think about it.
Even though the side that has a support chain the involves actual war crimes was Hoshido (Oboro/Jakob Supports for anyone interested).
Like both Kingdoms in Fates fit into the "morally grey" category WAY better than Edel does in 3H.
Like Garon isn't actually Garon, the Nohr Siblings aren't bad people they are just trying to save their own necks, Nohr Corrin genuinely tries to find the least bloody option but due to naivety and inexperience they don't often succeed. Hoshido on the other hand are certainly the victims, in the sense they are getting invaded but they aren't above using morally bad tactics in order to improve their chances of winning, Hoshido Corrin is angrier and far less willing to compromise and were Xander kept secrets from Corrin about who they were in order to protect himself and Corrin, Ryoma kept secrets about Corrin not being their blood family because.... I don't know, he never thought it was important? Regardless both sides do bad things, for different reasons but all the reasons at least on surface make sense.
Edelgard's thought process for how she got from Tortured by Mole Men to Gotta Kill the Dragons and work with the Mole Men requires multiple jumps in logic that it just doesn't work unless we accept Edelgard's goals are not as noble as she claims them to be.
I'll be the first to admit Fates wasn't some masterpiece in writing BUT I didn't at any point not believe Nohr and Hoshido didn't have a believable reason for doing what they are doing at various points in the game.
