The Phantom Tollbooth Tattoos Moo Tattoo, Philadelphia, PA
Preliminary concept paintings by Phyllis Graham for the Chuck Jones-produced and directed “The Phantom Tollbooth”, 1970 (his only feature-length film).
Phyllis Graham, the wife of renowned CalArts art teacher, Don Graham, would submit her ideas as small mixed media paintings, about the size of a long postcard. Her work for “The Phantom Tollbooth” numbers in the hundreds, each one a jewel.

Princess Reason - Your Divorce
L.
“Your Divorce” by Princess Reason // Your Divorce EP (Out 8.14.15 via Nebraskan Coast)
It’s been a little over a year since we last heard some new material from the excellent, Baltimore based lo-fi pop trio, Princess Reason. Luckily, in that absence, the band has been recording new material and we can now hear some of the fruits of that labor. “Your Divorce” is the title track of their forthcoming EP (out August 14tth through Nebraskan Coast) and it finds the band expanding their sonic world without losing their voice. Though the production feels a little more crisp and focused -the jangly guitars and laidback but lovely melodies still stand out as bright beacons that call to mind an era of indie rock (Pavement, Built to Spill, etc.) that’s felt far too little these days. As with most of Princess Reason’s best material, there’s also a youthful, but worn feeling that conjures an optimistic melancholy - as if to say in through all of the longing, there is something pure and sweet at the core that pushes you forward on your journey. It’s simplicity is a side effect of the band’s hard work, which pays off in wonderful and beautiful ways. Highest recommendation.
