As a person who specifically does work surrounding Black mother-daughter relationships, I have loved and been following @redtabletalk since the promo came out and have always seen these conversations as absolutely necessary ESPECIALLY having the younger generation at the table so S/O to @willowsmith. Thx Red Table Talk Group for having extended online dialogue. I really appreciate seeing the hard and necessary conversation that happened with @jadapinkettsmith and @shereefletcher bc it shows a "how-to" for women who may not have ever seen how to be amicable to each other. We often presume relationships with other women don't need instructions, which couldn't be further from the truth. This is something we learn from our mothers. I can't wait to see more! And if you like Red Table Talk and are in the DC-MD-Va area this weekend, I will be extending this conversation in "My BARZ Heal Scars: The WombPrint To Healing The Girl Within." This is a musical speech and book release that speaks on Black mother-daughter relationships using hip hop. I have 8 FREE TICKETS 🎫 to the show for black girls and women ages 12+. It's important in these convos to have the younger girls in the room WITH US, because if they aren't it won't be passed on. I work with so many girls in schools and communities who are disconnected from their mothers. Did you know 75% of runaways are FEMALE? Y'all this isn't a coincidence. My mission is to help put us back together again and create healing spaces for it and using hip hop helps bring teens to the convo and speaks their language .
