The Day Shift
Near the chains of small microislands, the land which lived outside the smells and sounds of Gotham City, the skies burned a brilliant color that night. The brilliance of the light was sure to be nearly unnoticed in the bustling streets, but from Bristol,, the anomaly was as clear as day. Streaking through the was a glowing, orange streak, brightest thing in the sky. Bright enough to attract the Dark Knight's attention, who had been en route back to his home in Bristol when he spotted it. It was no shooting star, that was clear. Most shooting stars didn't make it so low, to the point where he could feel the shockwave from where he was of the impact against the Earth, even though it was an island away. The Batmobile screeched to a halt, before it was turned around with a Y-turn, and set off in the direction of the impact. --------------------------------------------------------------------- When he neared the impact zone, he was looking into a crater. Around the crater, there lay displaced trees and soil, a large swath carved into the land from the angled crash. At the center of the devastation lay what he was sure was a spacecraft, damaged, smoldering and wrecked inside. Tentatively, navy blue boots began to carefully descend the crater's incline, treads dug in deeply to prevent sliding down the loose Earth that was jarred free. His descent was slow, but finished with a slide as he neared the bottom, leaving him inside of the gaping hole. He approached the ship carefully, feet making nary a whisper as he neared. The sounds of sizzling ship and crackling of broken wires would have masked any sounds he made on approach anyways. As he came closer, a word was visible in a language he knew none of. It was assumed it was the callsign of the ship, but he could have been mistaken. This was an extra-terrestrial craft of some kind, after all. Carefully, he took advantage of the ship's wrecked state to grab a hold of a loose panel, ripping it off with assisting leverage from his boot. From there, he could see the interior, and some of what was inside.
