She was the fourth daughter and sixth child of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. The new Princess, nicknamed 'la nouvelle' by her siblings, came into the world during a very turbulent time. The year 1848 would be remembered as one of revolution and rebellion. Queen Victoria wrote "May God bless the dear little child, who is so fat, strong, & well again. She was born in the most eventful times, & ought to be something peculiar in consequence." "She is the largest we have had after Affie & very like what he was at that age. She has very large, deep set eyes, a marked nose & pretty small mouth. What hair she already has, is very fair. She is very plump." Queen Victoria's Journal, Monday 3rd April 1848. Princess Louise was brought up traveling with the Queen’s Court from Buckingham Palace to Windsor to Osborne to Balmoral and she enjoyed a relatively happy childhood. She brought up with a strict educational program devised mainly by her father Prince Albert, she was educated by tutors alongside her siblings and she proved to be an intelligent student. She was also trained in the practical skills which she would use later to aid her in managing her future martial household. Princess Louise developed her artistic skills as an accomplished sculptor and a noted artist creating many beautiful drawings. From a young age she seemed to have great intelligence and even her artistic talents were quickly recognised. #queenvictoria #princesslouise #princesslouiseduchessofargyll #princealbert https://www.instagram.com/p/CbQhKrgs5Ol/?utm_medium=tumblr
