•𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐋𝐨𝐮𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐃𝐮𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐎𝐟 𝐀𝐫𝐠𝐲𝐥𝐥• 𝒫rincess Louise Caroline Alberta was born #onthisday 18 March 1848 at Buckingham Palace, London. She was the fourth daughter and sixth child of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. The new Princess, nicknamed 'la nouvelle' by her siblings, came into the world during a very turbulent time. The year 1848 would be remembered as one of revolution and rebellion. Queen Victoria wrote "May God bless the dear little child, who is so fat, strong, & well again. She was born in the most eventful times, & ought to be something peculiar in consequence." "She is the largest we have had after Affie & very like what he was at that age. She has very large, deep set eyes, a marked nose & pretty small mouth. What hair she already has, is very fair. She is very plump." Queen Victoria's Journal, Monday 3rd April 1848. Princess Louise was brought up traveling with the Queen’s Court from Buckingham Palace to Windsor to Osborne to Balmoral and she enjoyed a relatively happy childhood. She brought up with a strict educational program devised mainly by her father Prince Albert, she was educated by tutors alongside her siblings and she proved to be an intelligent student. She was also trained in the practical skills which she would use later to aid her in managing her future martial household. Princess Louise developed her artistic skills as an accomplished sculptor and a noted artist creating many beautiful drawings. From a young age she seemed to have great intelligence and even her artistic talents were quickly recognised. #queenvictoria #princesslouise #princesslouiseduchessofargyll #princealbert https://www.instagram.com/p/CbQhKrgs5Ol/?utm_medium=tumblr
———————————————————————————————————- 🇬🇧-Large living room of the ground floor apartments at the Eu Castle. Louis-Philippe, who acquired the estate in 1821, had these ground floor rooms completely refurbished for his son the Duke of Orleans and his wife. The parquet is the work of the English engineer George Packham. The ceiling and the walls are due to the architect Viollet-le-Duc, directly inspired by French architecture of the 16th century, which is the time of creation of the castle. The furniture returned to its place following a filing by Mobilier National in March 2018. It is a sofa, six armchairs, six chairs and a fireplace screen lined with Beauvais tapestry. Destined for Queen Marie-Amélie, they were then given to Princess Clémentine, one of the daughters of the sovereigns. These rooms, including the large living room, were occupied by Queen Victoria and her husband Prince Albert during their stay in France in 1843.———————————————————————————————————— #france #queen #queenvictoria #princealbert #louisphilippe #mobilier #art #artcollection #castle #chateau #history #england #englishroyalfamily #orleans #orleansfamily #bourbonsorleans #eu #normandie Reposted from @artandfrenchstyle https://www.instagram.com/p/CMcwLsGhgdu/?igshid=1jqcq6ho5lv3m
