aight here we go
Take your lights off the tree (I know it's a hassle but it will save u time)
Plug them in and see which lights don't come on. It could simply be the bulbs or the whole strand could be fried, so You have to do this for EVERY strand. It's easier to check each individual strand so you can check that it's that strand and not any connections.
Any dead strands have good bulbs, so steal those for any bulbs out on working strands.
Be thorough and they should work for several years (mine haven't needed fixin' in five good years, so we leave 'em on the tree)
