Printspace, Metro Print and Artful Dodgers Imaging
Last week we visited three high quality print labs in London: Printspace, Metro Print and Artful Dodgers Imaging.
Having never been to a professional print lab before this was a really helpful induction. We started the day at Printspace where we were shown all of the paper, mounting and framing options they provide. This was good for me as I was aware of some specialist papers such as metallic paper. After this we went into their booths and each edited an image to fit A3 paper and changed to colour profile to be accurate to the matte paper settings. This was so that we could all leave the induction with a free A3 print of one of our own images.
After this visit we went to Metro Imaging where we were given a similar intro about the different papers available, although this visit also included us being seeing the printers themselves. An advantage of this printers is that they can print direct to media, we are planning to print our panorama on a transparent medium so it is likely that we will use this printer for that image.
The final printers we visited was Artful Dodgers. This is the printer Daniel used for his book When War Is Over. Daniel gave us a short tour of their studios and explained that they provide a bespoke service at a slightly higher cost.
