I have a really dumb request so yknow how luz prob keeps a bunch of glyphs in a little bag or her pocket or something and yknow how they activated when she touches them well im just imagining she like checks they're there by like doing the pocket slap thing which by accidently activates them and they all explode at the same time
Would you be interested in providing any Willumity headcanons you have?
Y’all are after my heart I stg
Luz:
CONSTANTLY needs to be touching at least one of them if at all possible; she loves holding their hands and playing with their fingers, linking arms, arms over shoulders, even just pressed up against each other so their arms are touching, she just NEEDS that contact. She gets antsy if they’re nearby and she can’t be by their sides.
Likes to nuzzle her face into her girlfriends’ necks and just sort of live there when she gets the chance to be extra clingy. She likes the feeling of being completely surrounded by her girlfriend’s presence.
Sleep schedule?? With ADHD ??? Not likely. She’ll be up at odd hours with the need to do something and will often times find herself thinking of ideas she can make her girls happy. She’ll either jot down ideas or just mindlessly sketch and think about “oh, I think Willow said something about wanting to grow human pumpkins, I should get a packet of seeds next time I visit Mamí” and “Amity mentioned off-hand at dinner how tired she was lately, I should treat her to a spa day this weekend.....that might be costly, maybe I can set it up from home??" And then she’ll get so caught up in researching different things that suddenly the sun is up and she’s only had like 3 hours of restless sleep but she’s excited regardless because she’s got plans to make her girls happy that she’s eager to get started on.
Sometimes she’ll just be so happy when she’s with her girls she’ll just start crying. Willow and Amity would of course be immediately alarmed but Luz reassures them they’re happy tears because she loves them so much. Willow and Amity always cover her in kisses after she’s done crying
Amity:
For the first few weeks of dating (either one or both of them) she is a complete mess. She goes through a LOT of internal doubt that she doesn’t make known that drives her crazy. Luz and Willow are always patient and understanding and just kiss the space between her eyebrows whenever they catch her frowning and having one of her inner spirals. Amity eventually breaks down and confesses her fear that she doesn’t deserve them. She’s never had something so good in her life and good things have been taken from her before under the pretense of “only good girls get nice things” (thanks Mr and Mrs blight for ruining a perfectly good child. Look at her. She’s got anxiety). She’s scared they’ll realize one day just how horrible she is based on her actions in the past and they’ll leave her (in Willow’s case, again). After Luz and Willow THOROUGHLY reassure her that they’re not going anywhere, she just ends up being clingy whenever those fears creep back up. Whenever those fears DO crop back up, she has the tendency to approach either one of her girls and just rest her forehead against them silently, internally reminding herself that nothing is taking them away from her. Luz and Willow pick up on this behavior and whenever it happens, they drop what they’re doing (if they can) and just smother Amity in love until she feels better.
She has a hard time doing eye contact for a variety of reasons, but as a result she likes giving them hugs and kisses from behind. She really enjoys being able to wrap her arms around their waists and just plop her chin on their shoulders and see what they’re doing.
Very easily jealous (related to the fear of losing them). Depending on whether or not she knows the person, she’ll glare daggers at anyone she sees trying to hit on either of her girls. One time she caught someone making Luz visibly uncomfortable from across the room, stomped over angrily, and just pulled Luz into a searing kiss that she almost dipped her into because she was kissing her so hard. She definitely left Luz breathless and giddy and the look she gave the other person made them nearly shit their pants. She watched v smugly as the other person walks away looking sheepish and terrified. She considers it one of her proudest moments.
She adores helping her girls with whatever they need. No matter how little, she always offers either her help or solutions. These usually result in a hug or a kiss as thanks that she quietly cherishes.
Willow:
I think Willow is just in shock for a while when she first begins her relationship with Luz and Amity. For so much of her time growing up she’s been alone, or nearly alone, and heartbroken since Amity first ended their friendship as kids. It’s taken a lot for her to be able to bring her walls down; she’s spent years building them to keep the bullies at bay. While she loves her girls, it’s hard for her to accept that love in return. Not that she thinks she doesn’t deserve it, she just genuinely doesn’t know how to process being on the receiving end of so much love. For the first few weeks (months maybe?) of their relationship she just doesn’t know how tor respond to Luz’s spontaneous shows of affection or Amity sometimes coming up from behind and just hugging her to hug her. Her face essentially becomes a loading wheel because she doesn’t know how to process the affection.
Once she gets into the groove of being in a relationship, she finds herself easily reciprocating the displays of affection her girls give her; cheek kisses, forehead kisses, nose kisses, hugs of all varieties. She likes being able to magically conjure their favorite flowers for special occasions, but for regular days she actually likes to get them little snacks she knows they enjoy. Luz likes stuff with peanut butter and Amity likes fruit-based sweets (strawberry [or boiling isles equivalent] being her favorite). If she ever finds she has the time, she’ll try to make the treats herself, but she often just gets them from a bakery or sweets shop in town.
She loves when her girls get cuddly. There’s something about having their weight around her that brings her a sense of peace and comfort. It’s also nice to feel wanted when they get clingy.
She’s never been particularly bothered by her weight, but on rare occasion she’ll feel upset by her tummy rolls or how much fat she has on her arms despite her workouts. On those days, Luz and Amity get EXTRA clingy, especially in regards to whatever body part Willow is self conscious about at the time. Arms? They link arms with her for as much of the day as they can and squeeze her arms and whisper to her how impressed they are with how strong she is but how soft her hugs are. Tummy? Lots of hugs where they can whisper to her how huggable she is. By the end of the day, any self-consciousness is thoroughly banished and she’s reduced to a blushing mess.
She loves being able to just. Lift her girlfriends at any given moment. They’re both beanpoles and she works with giant dangerous plants every day. Lifting her girls is a piece of cake. She especially enjoys watching them turn into bright red flustered messes whenever she does this. She also enjoys when she sets them down and can feel how warm their faces are when she kisses them. It’s a secret source of pride in her heart.
She’s not inherently clingy like her girlfriends are, but she immediately adapts to their language of touch. She learns what sort of touches mean what: when Amity has her forehead on her Willow knows she’s having a bad day. Whenever Luz just sort of flops into her lap, she’s either very tired or upset about something and Willow knows to just start running her fingers through her hair. She knows that Luz kisses her temple when she expresses gratitude. She knows Amity has difficulty with eye contact and learns what kind of mood Amity is in by the way she holds her hand. She becomes fluent in touch as an unspoken language between her girls.
I could go on for days but this is already a lot lol. This was a lot of fun though!
Calls both of them “hermosa” (beautiful), “mi cielito” (my sky/heaven), and “mi reina” (my queen) as the situation calls for it.
Amity:
Calls Willow “my lovely spring garden”
Calls Luz “my beautiful sunshine”
Calls both of them “love” and “hon” and will sometimes (when she’s feeling extra silly) will go on super over exaggerated poetic rants to describe whomever she’s talking about, so for example, “Willow, the gentle creek that whispers sweet nothings to me on a peaceful sunny afternoon, the soft wind that caresses my cheeks, the song that fills my every waking moment, will you please get off my legs, I can’t feel them anymore”
EXTRA:
Willow and Amity learn Spanish in bits and pieces over the years and one day, without even discussing it first, both start calling Luz “Luz de mi vida”. Luz freaks the fuck out because they both call her that separately at different times of day when they weren’t around the other (Willow called her that while they were hanging out in the greenhouse; Amity called her that when they were talking about Azura during a free period). She blushes like crazy each time.
Could I ask for some more of the wonderful fluff that is Wilumity domestic headcannons? Or, possibly if you have any, some Camileda headcannons?
*GASPS*
ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS
Willumity:
Willow is the early-riser. She’s developed a habit of waking up early to check on her plants and do her workouts. Luz and Amity have no idea how she does this every single day (they often complain because she’s also a huge source of warmth and how dare she leave their little warmth cocoon).
Amity has Routines™️ that cannot be disrupted or she will freak out. It’s an autism thing for sure, but it’s also something Luz gets. Because Willow gets up so early they tend to have their own little morning routine together; stay in bed and cuddle for maybe another half hour or so (depending on how early Willow wakes up), then they get up and do their bathroom routines. I think.....Luz is the type to do night time showers due to having such short hair, so Amity showers while Luz brushes her teeth and washes her face. Luz is usually dressed by the time Amity gets out of the shower and she gives her a quick kiss on the cheek to let her know she’s headed to the kitchen to get coffee/breakfast started. There have been a couple times Luz has forgotten to give her her after-shower kiss and Amity was so thrown off that by the time she made it out to the kitchen, her eyes were red from crying because A) Did Luz not love her anymore??????????? (incorrect, but their routine had been broken) and B) Trying to continue with your routine with a step actively missing is hell and she’s been upset ever since. Luz has usually just been too tired to remember and will immediately cover Amity in kisses to make up for it (after they go through whatever process they need to to help Amity calm down). Amity hates that she gets so upset over something so small, but Luz reassures her that her routines are important to Amity and it’s okay to be upset when those routines are disrupted. Whenever Willow catches them like this after her workouts, she requests a kiss from each of her girls on either cheek before she goes into the shower herself (usually to lighten the mood because it always makes Amity happy when Willow mimics Amity’s routine habits [it always works]).
Surprisingly, Luz is the one that does the grocery shopping. Willow knows what fruits and veggies they can grow to add into meals and how to prep food for the plants that actually eat, but she’s not especially well-versed in like. Meals. Amity has like 3 meals she knows how to make properly because they’re her favorites. Luz, with her mom’s recipes in her arsenal along with whatever wild dishes Eda’s made for her over the years while she lived in the Owl House, has the largest repertoire of Human/Witch meals under her belt. Plus, she always ends up getting little treats for her wives while she’s at the market that they adore. (Luz both loves and hates when her girls ask to go with her to help; she loves spending time with them, but she hates that they don’t know Luz’s system. She’s got a pattern that she follows and they’re just all over the place whenever they come with her.)
Every Saturday night is Date Night and one person is assigned with coming up with what they do that night. They take turns every week; Willow enjoys quiet nights in at home with them, romantic dinners with candle light and soft music while they chat about their day // Amity enjoys taking them out for romantic picnics if the weather allows, they have a few Favorite Spots they picnic at, but sometimes they just climb up on the roof. Luz always asks them to tell her about the Demon Realms constellations and their history because she loves hearing them talk. // Luz enjoys taking them to the Human Realm to visit some of her favorite restaurants and walk around a local park and watch the stars afterwards. She’ll tell them about all of the constellations she can remember (Percy Jackson phase anyone? Yeah, we all knew those shits names and constellations when we were in it, huh?). She’ll tell them her favorite stories behind each kind of constellation and tell them which ones remind her of her girls.
I 100% do not know what kind of jobs these girls would have as adults. I mean, Willow more than likely has a public garden she maintains, but I have no idea with Luz and Amity. I’ve seen a lot of headcanons in fics and art about Luz going into politics after defeating Belos but like. Luz? Luz Noceda? In Politics???????? Even in the Demon Realm I highly doubt that would happen. I think she might want to continue researching magic and how she’d be able to find glyphs for specific kinds of magic, creating new magic, etc. She might write books? Both fiction and non-fiction. I think she writes some memoirs about her life before coming to the Boiling Isles and before defeating Belos, but she’s been wanting to be a fiction writer since she was 7 years old. She’s got her own fiction series for sure. Amity might get into politics but I also doubt that. She might just be the editor and publisher for Luz’s books. Or she might work at the Library. I really don’t know. But Luz Noceda, ADHD extraordinaire, going into politics? I’d sooner expect that of Willow. And she’s already got her girls and her gardens.
They’ve got a Wednesday night book club. But it’s just them in their living room reading their own separate books after dinner until they get tired. They’ll all cuddle up together either on the couch or the floor or in bed or wherever and just sit and read in comfortable silence. Often times one of them will start absentmindedly start running their fingers through one of their partner’s hair and cause that partner to fall asleep. It is not uncommon for them to wake up in the same spot they were in for their book club with their books laying about and cramps in their necks. It’s one of their favorite things they do together.
Camileda:
Camila likes to sneak pictures of Eda in the morning cuz she thinks she looks especially cute when she’s not fully conscious yet.
Camila has no idea what the fuck is up with Eda’s hair. She’s tried asking both Luz and even Lilith but neither were able to give her an answer. They both only have theories. Eda always spouts some new ridiculous thing whenever anyone asks (she actually has a small, contained black hole at the back of her head that she uses to just store random shit // she cast an enchantment on her hair years ago to be able to use it like a Bag of Holding so she didn’t actually ever have to carry a bag // she was just born with hair that can hold seemingly anything and has never questioned it // etc.), so one day Camila just asks her. Eda tells her the truth; she doesn’t know either.
Regardless of the fucking enigma that is Eda’s hair, she still enjoys helping her wash and maintain it. Eda refuses to admit in the few first months they start dating, but she adores when Camila plays with her hair. Her hair is an integral part of who she is and it’s shockingly more intimate to her than anyone would guess when the allows others to touch her hair. She loves listening to Camila talk about her day while she braids tiny details into her hair. One day, Camila was so angry about something that had happened at work that she ended up braiding some super intricate flower designs into Eda’s hair and actually used all of it. Lilith and Luz are both in shock and awe that Camila was able to tame Eda’s mane into something so gorgeous and Eda maybe didn’t take out the broads for a few days afterwards because she loved it so much.
They love learning about each other?? Their lives up to this point have been so culturally different that all of their stories have an air of magical mystery to them that the other is always dazzled by. Eda loves learning about how Camila grew up and how she decided to become a healer (a ‘nurse’ she insists but Eda doesn’t really know the difference). Camila loves listening to Eda’s many tales of mischief of her school days and after her school days; although she does get worried when Eda mentions that she’s been to jail (Eda insists that it was only for a little bit before she figured out how to bust out! And she made off with some extra cash to boot, so it was a double victory).
It’s one thing to hear about Luz’s accomplishments from her own daughter and from Eda; it’s another to hear them coming from her teachers. Camila goes with Eda to a Parent-Teacher conference at Hexside ready to hear about how much trouble she gets into and how she needs to sign off on different kinds of detention slips and reports of damage and whatever, but is pleasantly surprised to see all of the teachers actually praising her? Some are ecstatic about her presence in heir class? They’d all been taught that humans had no magical ability at all and Luz had come into their classrooms and proved them all wrong and even helped them understand some of the nuances of their own subjects they’d struggled with on their own. By the time the conference is over, (including an incredible review from Principal Bump that left even Eda feeling moved) Camila was clutching o Eda’s arms as they left the school and crying in happiness. Her daughter was doing so well in school. All of her teachers loved her! They didn’t have any complaints about her inattention or disruptive behavior because they knew she was learning her own way. And Eda had fought for Luz’s ability to attend the first school that made Luz actually feel good about herself. Let’s just say there were a lot of heartfelt kisses that night when they got home.
I personally like to think that Camila likes to dance. Like, profesional-levels of dance. Like she maybe minored in dance in college before buckling down on her medical degree. I like to think that sometimes Eda will find her humming along to some song playing from her phone and dancing an entire routine in tiny movements while she goes about doing whatever else. Sometimes Camila will just drop into a fucking perfect split while she’s trying to reach for something that rolled under a table or whatever that catches Eda so off guard that she has to leave the room to collect herself. (It’s Camila’s love for dance that made Luz want to try cheerleading at her human school. Her school didn’t have a formal dance team, so cheerleading was the next best thing. It’s also how Luz knows how to drop into a perfect split when she first tries on that Hexside uniform despite not ever attempting it before.)
Eda’s never had any formal dance training; she’s a head-banger kinda girl. During some of her earlier escapades into the human realm, she’d sneak into many concerts and blended in perfectly with the other attendees in the mosh pit. She loves when Camila tries to teach her some more formal dances that aren’t just a free-for-all. Eda does her best to learn how Merengue works but she often gets confused as to what point she’s supposed to lean or step or spin and she usually ends up dizzy with Camila giggling at her. Camila always helps her come out of her dizziness with little kisses pressed to Eda’s temples; Camila adores that Eda tries so hard.
They love teasing each other. That’s the whole headcanon. Nah, for real tho, they love trying to get under each other’s skin with little teasing remarks and eyebrow waggles and sticking their tongues out at each other when no one else is looking like they’re little kids. It’s one of the easiest ways to get the other to laugh and they love each other’s laughs. Eda brings out Camila’s deeply-buried immature goofball personality that she’s had to push down for years just due to the nature of her studies and work, as well as being a single mom. You don’t have a lot of space to be an immature goof when you’re responsible for a whole other human being. Eda helps coax that back out of her. (Luz can’t remember ever seeing her mom so happy as she is when she’s goofing off with Eda.)
Camila’s constantly poking at Eda’s elbows and hip bones and shoulders and muttering about how bony she is; Eda replies in kind by digging her elbows into Camila’s gut or directly into her face and hip-checking her.
In a similar vein, Eda adores Camila’s curves, and not even just in a sexy way. She just loves how soft and squishy Camila is because hugging her is so comfortable; Eda swears she could fall asleep standing up if she’s hugging Camila. She also swears by this because she knows that under all that squish is some serious muscle and Camila wouldn’t let her fall.
Not really a Camileda headcanon so much as it’s just a headcanon: Camila and Lilith have the same eyeglasses prescription. It’s bizarre, that doesn’t happen really, but somehow they have the exact same prescription. This is discovered one afternoon when Camila and Lilith both arrive at the Owl house at the same time. Camila removes her glasses and sets them on the coffee table to just relax for a while while she and Lilith make small talk (Long after Camila’s reluctant acceptance of her). Lilith goes picks out a book to read and sits on the other couch to settle in while Camila takes a cat nap and she just picks up Camila’s glasses out of years of habit of picking up her own glasses. She doesn’t even notice they’re not her glasses until Eda and Luz come home and ask why in the hell Lilith is wearing Camila’s glasses. Lilith is confused but takes off the glasses and blushes because for Titan’s sake, those aren’t her glasses, those are her sister’s girlfriend’s glasses!!!!!!! She sputters out her explanation while Eda laughs at her and Camila wakes up. They end up actually properly testing it out by swapping glasses and yup; exact same prescription. They end up accidentally hoarding stockpiling spare glasses all around the Owl House for either of them to grab when they need glasses.
Please always ask for Willumity and Camileda, those are the keys to my heart 💖💕💝✨💘💞✨💖💖💘💕💝💞
Do you have any camileda headcanons you'd be willing to share?
ÒωÓ D O I E V E R
Camilia loves her job at the hospital. When they first start dating (after a stable portal is made obvs), she just continues to do her daily thing. She worked hard for that medical degree damnit!!! But every single day after work she gathers up whatever stuff she needs to bring over to the demon realm and hops on over and just face plants on Eda’s couch. She has sometimes been so tired she’s accidentally falllen on top of King while he was napping. Whenever Luz sees her exhausted like this, she picks back up her old habit of karate chopping her moms back to help her relax (because that’s how they do it in cartoons). It helps her get out her ADHD energy by keeping her hands busy while she tells her mom about her day. Eda will usually take a seat on the other couch or an armchair and also listen in for a minute before removing Camilia’s glasses and hair tie to help her be more comfortable before getting up to go make dinner. Camilia wouldn’t admit it in the first few months of them dating, but that’s her favorite part of every day.
Camilia’s come home from work sometimes to see Eda in her human disguise and a nicer-than-usual outfit waiting for her in her porch and she knows Eda’s planned some kind of date for them for the night. It always warms her heart whenever she sees her do this because sometimes she needs some spontaneity in her life. Goodness knows she can’t rely on Luz to provide that for her all the time when she’s in the demon realm.
On that same note, there are some days where she walks up to Eda and buries her face into Eda’s neck and just hugs her because it was a really long/bad day and Eda just holds her for a while. Eda knows Camilia has some bad days and never holds it against her. Whenever she isn’t up to a night out, Eda just leads her inside and takes care of her, taking her glasses off and her bun out and telling her to relax on the couch and tell her about her day. Camilia has only cried once during these little calm-down sessions because she was so overwhelmed with how much she loves this woman; none of her previous relationships treated her like this. Eda finds herself making tea in the kitchen usually, sometimes dinner if she’s familiar enough with the ingredients (or if it’s something she can pop into her favorite human device: the microwave. She’ll never understand how that little box works but she loves it).
One days where their schedules don’t match up (sometimes Eda is at her human collectibles stand or delivering potions later than she expects) Camilia will try her best to make meals out of whatever Eda has in her kitchen. She and Eda have gone over what stuff is food and what stuff is potion ingredients v thoroughly, but sometimes she can’t remember and it limits her options. At that point she just hops back over to her own house in the human realm and whips up some chapea/chambre (@ my Dominican followers; is there a “right” word? Does it matter? I’ve read it just depends on what part of the country you’re from?). By the time she gets back to the Owl House, Eda’s walking through the front door and looks nearly dead on her feet and immediately perks up the moment she smells Camilia’s cooking. Eda finds it hard to admit out loud for the first several months that they’re dating that coming home to Camilia and her cooking is nothing short of paradise; she usually expresses her gratitude by engulfing Camilia in big sweeping hugs and peppering her face in kisses before they sit down to eat.
On THAT note - Luz can smell her mother’s cooking from a mile away and will barrel down anything in her way if it means she gets to eat her mom’s cooking. She has actually broken walls in the past from how hard she swings doors open. She’s dragged all her friends back to the Owl House on several occasions to try her mom’s food (they all love it) and their evenings are filled with so much laughter and love and warm food and full bellies; Eda will sometimes become strangely quiet during these moments. Once everyone’s gone home and she’s gone to bed she’ll be lying awake in her nest, staring at the ceiling and realize oh, that’s what a family is like. It makes her more emotional than she realizes and she’ll find herself either crying (happy tears) or kicking around like an excited little kid and stifling her own squeals of joy. She hates admitting to being a giant sap, but she’s finding that ever since Luz came into her life, she doesn’t actually mind that much.
Sometimes Eda will have nightmares that keep her from going back to sleep. Whenever that happens, she’ll leave a note for Luz on the kitchen table letting her know where she is before sneaking over to the human realm in the dead of night. The first few times she did this, she had to find Camilia’s bedroom window and toss pebbles at it to wake her up, but she’s definitely been given a house key by now (Camilia was beside herself at the time; she hadn’t given a partner a key to her home in decades and for some reason there was a thrill in giving this to Eda.). Eda will quietly enter the house and tiptoe upstairs and just kinda slip into bed behind Camilia and wrap her arms around her waist and put her forehead against Camilia’s back and just listen to her breathe. Sometimes Camilia wakes up and (the first few times this happened she was scared shitless and nearly broke Eda’s nose. She’s learned to expect it by now) she’ll turn over and wrap her arms around Eda and brush her fingers through the front of her hair. It only takes a few minutes for Eda to feel at ease enough to fall right back asleep as if nothing had ever happened.
They love dancing. They don’t ever go out anywhere to dance, they’ll usually just dance in the living room or kitchen. If they have the radio going in the kitchen while they’re waking up in the morning, they’ll dance around each other as they go about their morning routines. This always ends up with them dancing together and laughing, usually because one of them accidentally knocked the other in the counter or the table. If Luz is staying at a friend’s house, Eda will set up her gramophone and put on some records they can slow dance to. They just like being able to be in each other’s space. No kisses needed (always welcome, but not always needed), they just love the intimacy of simply existing with one another in those moments.
I could go on but I’m struggling with whether or not they decide to actually get married. Would they get married in the human realm? Would Camilia leave her job to go live in the Boiling Isles with her daughter and her girlfriend? Would they even care to make their relationship recognized by legal documentation? Part of them would like to, for sure, but it’s not like...A necessity? Eda certainly has her human ID but I don’t know if she’s ever forged any American legal identification documents (birth certificate/passport). Camilia would never forge an identity for herself in the Boiling Isles, but she’s certainly not like. A resident. She and Luz are undocumented citizens of Bonesborough but literally no one cares.
Maybe Luz would pull something like Steven universe and just...throw them a wedding anyway because MOM PARTY!!!!! No legal documents, just a celebration with all their family and friends. We don’t know what Luz’s extended family relations look like; I have no idea if Camilia has any family she’d be leaving behind in the Human Realm or if everything she loves is living in the Demon Realm.
Far too many variables for this post anyway, maybe another post if y’all are interested in seeing more 🤷🏻♀️
Since you like Luz and Camilla's bond and since it's Luz appreciation week, would you give some headcanons you have about how they interact after Camila finds out about the isles?
I don’t remember when this was sent but it’s certainly not Luz appreciation week anymore lol
But imma still answer it because I love Camilla Noceda
Luz, for the first time probably in Camilla’s presence, picks her words very carefully. I think she’s relieved beyond belief that she’s in her mother’s arms again, but then once the initial reunion is done, Camilla puts her hands on her hips and Luz just sorta shrinks and laughs nervously because what do you even say????
I think it’s a lot of culture shock for Camilla at first too; much like Luz jumping at every little thing when she first arrived, Camilla is on edge 24/7 even with her daughter explaining how things work. How no, there’s nothing wrong with that demon, he just is a sentient slime and is totally chill. Or yeah, that demon does like eating the flesh of the living, but like, only if you piss them off, so just leave them be and you’ll be fine. Camilla has to keep her head in like, Emergency Nurse Mode in order to remain calm and not scream at everything (she still screams at a lot of things).
Camilla is mostly just overwhelmed I think? So Luz takes things super slow. As much as she would love to just tell her mom everything, she knows this is already a lot after not knowing if they’d ever see each other again. So I think Luz just sorta...sprinkles in new information into conversation. She DOES tell her about Hexside though because Luz has never loved school so much before and she knows her mom would love to hear about that.
I think it takes at least a week or so for Camilla to like. Get used to the Demon Realm in general? And after that point Luz starts telling her more stories of the adventures she’s gone on and magic she’s learned how to do. And don’t get me wrong, every single story makes Camilla want to just take her baby back to the Human Realm and lock her in the house so she’s never in danger like this again, but she’s also seeing how much Luz has grown; how much more mature she seems, how grounded she’s become, and it’s all this growth that makes Camilla see how much this world has helped Luz. So she holds her tongue as she watches her baby girl gush about everything she’s done and learned, because she looks so happy. And Luz was happy in the Human Realm too, but it wasn’t nearly this happy. Her happiness in the Human Realm was always tinted with a hint of apprehension, an underlying sense of resignation at the expectation of not being accepted by her peers.
I can’t remember which post it was, but I know I said previously that for the first few weeks, Camilla absolutely despises Eda. Any time Eda throws her two cents in to a story Luz is telling, Camilla just glares at her with a sort of murderous look that makes Eda pause and go silent again. Camilla has the right to be angry, sure, Eda should’ve sent Luz home the moment Luz showed up in the Demon Realm. But, she also gave her a place to sleep and food and knowledge and a familial love that Luz treasures. She’s given experiences that really shook Luz up overall (like facing Adaghast and Piniat), but allowed her to learn how to separate fantasy from reality. At least, in private conversation Luz explains as much, but now Camilla just wants to be petty because she never thought she’d see her baby again after she discovered Luz never went to camp. And to find out she’d been under Eda’s care this whole time? Oh Camilla wishes she could just throttle that woman’s neck for not bringing her baby back to her sooner.
Luz I think is mostly just scared that her mom won’t accept this new life Luz has made for herself. She’s on edge for as long as her mom is on edge and is only able to relax when she sees her mom start to get used to her surroundings. The apprehension is always there, just sort of simmering in the background, at least until the day she comes back to the Owl House after an outing with Lilith and sees Eda and her mom having a civil conversation. And not just civil, they actually look like they’re enjoying each other’s company ?? Camilla’s petty grudge against Eda seems to have completely vanished in the time Luz was out with Lilith and now they’re chatting like they’re best friends. That’s when Luz finally lets out the metaphorical breath she’d been holding this whole time. Her family, both versions of it, aren’t at odds anymore.
It still takes a lot of talking between them for Camilla to really accept the reality of it all. Luz will always be her baby, that will never change, but it’s hard to watch Luz grow up and make her own life-changing decisions and put herself in dangerous situations. Camilla has to remind herself to put herself in Luz’s shoes and really think about why Luz is so much happier.
I don’t know how this compromise shakes out tbqh. I’d like to imagine they have to sit down and really discuss what Luz wants to do next. Because as much as Luz loves the Demon Realm, is it actually what she wants? Does she really want to only live in the Demon Realm? She’s still a kid; opinions change as you age. I think they find a sort of compromise with Luz agreeing to be “home-schooled”. She needs to finish her human education before she devotes herself entirely to life in the Demon Realm. That way, at the very least, if Luz decides at some point in the future that she wants to go back to the Human Realm more permanently, she’ll at least have her GED under her belt. Luz is only hesitant because she’s already got so much work as the only All-Track student at Hexside, but that’s a better compromise than being forced to leave the Demon Realm and start attending Human school again.
Camilla’s seen her fair share of kids coming into the hospital with concerned parents, she’s attended to some of them personally and discovered they were in because the child was suffering from debilitating amounts of stress. She knows it can be hard. She was learning how to raise her own baby when she was still in school after all. She gets it. But she insists that Luz at least finish human high school online; she can get tutoring if need be, but she is not just dropping her entire life to go pursue life in the Demon Realm. Not on her watch. She’s going to make damn well sure that her baby is prepared for life in either Realm.
So Camilla rolls up her sleeves and gets to work; she formally pulls Luz out of public school and starts researching online schools with flexible schedules. She makes sure Eda is in on this plan too; she will NOT be making Luz work for her potions business OR Human Collectibles stand unless absolutely necessary (as in, Eda and Lilith are both unable and they are in dire need of funds and only Luz knows how to Turn That Profit™️). If Luz is caught up on ALL her school work and wants to chip in on Eda’s businesses, then yes, she can go, but not until then. Eda’s sort of sour about that (she’d never admit it in a million years but she loves having Luz at her stand; having company is nice and with the whole No Magic thing, they’ve been spending their downtime studying and practicing glyphs) but she lets out an over dramatic groan and agrees. (Luz, somehow, in what little downtime she has nowadays, draws up actual lesson plans for Eda to go over on the weekends when she can’t join her at the Human Collectibles stand. Eda adores them because 1) holy shit, her apprentice is so fucking talented, look at her GO and 2) Luz adds??? All sorts of cute encouraging notes??? In the margins of her lesson plans???? And little doodles too and it’s Eda’s favorite part. It’s almost like Luz is there with her going over the lessons with her goofy commentary).
On Camilla’s days off she’ll head over to the Demon Realm and help Luz with her (human) homework to the best of her ability; she knows it’s hard and Luz has a lot of stuff on her plate, so she helps her calm down her overwhelmed ADHD brain by helping her sort out what work she has and organizing it all into Doable Piles. Whenever she helps Luz with her homework, it’s all peppered with stories of various things Luz and her friends did that week. Camilla always uses that to her advantage; the more she learns about the things that are exciting to Luz, the more ammo she has in making her Human Homework more interesting. She’ll use analogies to Luz’s stories to make whatever homework thing relatable and will hide a sneaky smile whenever she sees Luz’s eyes light up with interest/recognition. She knows how her baby’s brain works: Luz will only do the homework if it interests her. If it relates to her friends? Sure fire method of getting homework done.
My brain has been absolute mush in the last like, month?????? So I apologize for how late this is ! But thank you so much for the ask, I love Luz and Camilla’s relationship, you’re so right. <3333
In your camilla x eda scenario, what might Camilla think of Lilith?
Oh man. That’s a whole can of worms that Luz might hesitate to tell her about. She may hesitate to tell Camilia about most of her experience with Lilith from the moment they were both at the Emperor’s castle through the moment they all returned to the Owl House.
I think Camilia is simply introduced to Lilith at first, not knowing any of her history. Not much opinion on her besides the fact that she’s Eda’s sister. She seems rather stuffy and reserved, but she’s met plenty of other nurses and doctors like that too, so she doesn’t think much of it.
Then Luz accidentally lets something slip; by the time Camilia is able to reunite with her daughter and meet everyone in the Demon Realm, Luz and Lilith have long since made up for all the bullshit Lilith put her through. They’re now both comfortable with joking about it even. Luz forgets that Camilia doesn’t know the whole story and visibly pales cuz oh no, this is not gonna be a fun conversation.
I think Luz would need to ask her mom to not interrupt or jump to any conclusions while she tells her the whole story and Camilia defo nearly breaks something in the process. If she’s at the kitchen table she might crack it or if they’re in the living room she might shatter her teacup or something. But she listens to her daughter’s story like she’s been asked to and waits for her to finish and when Luz is done, she simply excuses herself for a moment and heads outside. Everyone is left scared and silent because they don’t know what to expect (Luz especially; she’s never seen her mom this angry before). Then they hear Camilia’s voice screaming in Spanish at the top of her lungs and the sound of something large being hit. This goes on for a few minutes before they hear a giant -crash- and Hooty opens the door with fear in his eyes like “uhh Luz? Your mom is really scary...” and they all run outside and see Camilia huffing and puffing from exertion and an entire tree knocked over, splintered from where Camilia had been punching it.
Lilith makes a mental note to never ever ever get on Camilia Noceda’s bad side.
Eda makes a mental note to examine why she’s so turned on at the concept of this human being strong enough to fell an entire tree with her bare hands.
It takes.....several years. For Camilia to not glare daggers at Lilith whenever they’re in the same room. She’s civil towards her, but yknow. That’s about it. Absolute bare minimum courtesy for the woman that tried to kill her only child. And only at her child’s insistence that she do so. Eda loves it at first, but it does get exhausting after a while, especially when they start dating. I don’t know if she ever really forgave Lilith for her actions, but she at least has welcomed her back into her life since she took on half of her curse. I think Camilia would only start to break her uniform tolerance of Lilith from one too many puppy dog stares Eda gives her. It’s so hard to say no to Eda when she does that.
