Excitement on the High Seas

I was a princess turned pirate captain of my own vessel. It was a cross between a tall ship, a small fishing boat and a yacht. My crew was a mixture of humans, mermaids, and other aquatic hibreads. At the moment we were eluding people who wanted me dead. Everything was going swimmingly, until a shadow covered the widows in my quarter. Curious, I got up from my desk to peer out the windows. Just before I saw the cause my first mate came running down. 

"They're here to--"

The ship lurched sideways and we were thrown against the wall. Water rushed in through the now shattered widows. I ran out of the room and through the corridors of the ship, the whole time fighting with the dips and sways of the boat and the water filling the lower decks. When I got on deck I started shouting orders to my dismayed crew.

There was chaos about the ship as everyone moved to do their work. I looked across the deck to see a small destroyer towering out of the water. "Move away from it!!" I shouted to the crew. As soon as I finished the order the ship's wake crashed into us, washing across the deck sending crew members into the ocean.

Our sales finally caught wind and we took off. The destroyer was blowing holes in our  hull. I could see merpeople firing on the destroyer's hull from underwater. Our deck was blasted with water form all sides, even the ocean was against us! I pleaded with the ocean to calm, to allow us to escape our enemy. I saw ahead of us the sea break into two enormous swells with us in the bottom. "Straight ahead, boys!" I bellowed to the crew. We charged into the chasm.

The destroyer was relentless and it too went between the swells. I turned to look back just in time to see the walls of water crashing down on the destroyer. "Brace!" I heard my first mate scream right before I was swept away by water.

I was tumbling through blue-green when suddenly I was wretched out and thrown on deck. My first mate was standing over me grasping the rigging like most of the remaining crew. I stood up to survey the damage. It seemed that our ship was fine. The commotion behind me told me the others hadn't fared so well.

"That's it! Keep it up!" I called to my attacking crew. I could see the destroyer turning to leave its pursuit. It was taking in a lot of water and the merpeople were not ceasing their fire.

Then I woke up.
