I read this news story about the DuPont heir being spared prison time after pleading guilty to raping both his son and daughter : http://fox4kc.com/2014/04/02/du-pont-heir-spared-prison-after-raping-3-year-old-daughter/ After reading this, I become furious that this man is spared a prison sentence and my father is suffering in prison as an elderly man for a white collar crime. I first read the story online on the fox news timeline on facebook and saw that it was featured on the O'Reilly Factor. I decided writing to Bill would be my best bet. I'm hoping and praying my message gets read and has some attention brought to it. I grew up watching your show with my father and because of that, it's one of the things that brought us common ground and enlightening conversations. I cherish those memories. "A Bold Fresh Piece of Humanity" is one of my favorite books as well and after reading that, I became a bigger fan. I must admit I haven't watched your show in awhile but that's not because of you... I still keep up on the website and on social networking... But watching just makes me sad because it makes me think of my father and I can't watch the show with him anymore... at least not for awhile. Last night I was online and read your covering on the Du Pont heir story and how he managed to avoid prison after admittingly raping his small children. Clearly our criminal justice system needs some work. I cried after I read this story for many reasons. First of all, those poor children and how they will never be the same. The suffering the family must endure knowing the pain those children have experienced. And knowing this guy will spend his "punishment" in the comfort of his mansion. This is horrifying. I wanted to reach out to you and bring attention to a situation my family is experiencing... The reason I can't watch "Oreilly Factor" with my father is because he's currently serving a 5 year sentence in a federal prison for tax fraud. He was a tax preparer for many years and a handful of years back, he started running a "scam" under the nose of the family (we were completely unaware until he got caught). Now before any judgements are made about my father, I need to really stress that he is my father and has always been a wonderful father to me and my sister. He is a kind, sweet, generous man who would make anyone feel comfortable and smile in his presence. What should also be known is that before my father was sentenced to prison, he paid back all the money that was illegally earned during the time he was running his "scam". He never spent it. He just put it away... Which everyone thought was odd. But after paying back the money plus penalties, he was still given an inflated sentence of 5 years to serve in prison. At the time of his sentencing, he was 62 years old. We all thought he would get house arrest (interesting fact is that guards at his facility have told him they think he should be home with an ankle bracelet) but the federal prosecutor was asking for him to serve 36 months on prison. The judge gave him 60 months. I felt compelled to write this to you because this is clearly unjust. My father has never hurt a fly and is now 64 and just had open heart surgery while in prison. Meanwhile this monster Robert Richard IV is free. This needs more attention brought to it. We can't just let men like my father sit in prison and drain federal funds when he should clearly be home (yes with an ankle bracelet because I still do know he should pay for his crime but at least he would be taken care of by family and himself) and then let a CHILD RAPIST off easy! This is insanity! You have a platform to bring up stories like this. Please help us use it. Thank you and God bless.
