Grif: Alright Maddie. you want to train? Matthews: YES Grif: how old are you again? Matthews: 19 sir Grif: perfect. The training is a game of hide and seek.

Later: Grif hides in a bar

Matthews: I can't find Grif ANYWHERE. Captain Caboose do you have any ideas? Caboose: oh are you playing hide and do not seek? I used to play that with Church all the time.. there is no winning

Match-Perfecting

This is gonna probably be my last actual entry for Bingo wars, but I will probably complete all the prompts at some point (like a personal writing challenge). This is for red team, and the square “First Kiss”. It is a sequel to “Matchmessing” and kinda does need that one to make sense.

“They went out on a date.”

“Yes.”

“And now they are sort of together.”

“Uhhun.”

“And nothing we did had anything to do with it!”

“Thats right.”

This conversation was playing out in two different locations, about 2 very different couples.

The first couple having this debate was Dexter Grif and Dick Simmons, and their conversation was about the other couple. Grif couldn’t believe that they had been played like this, but Simmons, for once, didn’t seem too bothered one way or the other.

The second couple having this discussion was Antoine Bitters and Katie Jensen, both of whom were shocked that the third couple, Aurora Clair and Nick Matthews, had come together on their own, but Bitters much more so.

“Katie! This is important. I am going on a date with Nick Matthews. He doesn’t hate me. The only fancy thing I can do is my hair and I need your help! Stop making kissy face at Bitters and help me please!” Clair frantically attempted to get her friend's attention from the datapad, where she was on video call with Bitters, who was dealing with an equally panicked Matthews.

“Alright. We got this. You don’t have to look fancy. He sees you in armor every day and still likes you. So I think a simple braid should suffice. Just like it does every other day.”

“So, where shall we walk to? Maybe to the bridge over the river? It’s pretty there.”

“That’s what I was thinking. And you’re hair looks nice by the way. It always does.”

“Aw, thanks, Nick.”

“You’re welcome, Aurora.”

And with the awkward beginning of the date out of the way, the two began the walk to the river, which was just close enough to be comfortably walkable, but far enough that it afforded them some privacy and time to talk outside of their normal duties.

“It is pretty here, but not as nice as you look.”

“Oh, thanks.” Matthews blushed at the compliment, and turned so he was leaning sideways on the railing.

“Can I kiss you?” He asked suddenly, then panicked once he realized what he said.

In lieu of a verbal response, Clair leaned forward and kissed him.

“Yes, yes you may.” She said once they pulled apart.

“So you’re telling me, that 2 members of your squad, are dating 2 members of his squad, and no one thought to tell me before this managed to put a wrinkle in the training? All they do is stand around and make heart eyes in Matthews and Clair’s case, and argue and bicker in Bitters and Jensen’s case. Nothing gets done either way! Now everything has to be rearranged.” Wash was understandably exasperated at the situation, but would probably be able to work this in his favor.

“Well, look at it from our perspective. We got tricked into thinking 2 of them were interested in each other but not dating, and got played into attempting to help get the other 2 together, but neither pair actually needed outside interference. I put in effort! Actual genuine effort! For nothing!” Grif was equally annoyed,  but for entirely different reasons. Simmons stood silently behind him, nothing to add to the conversation.

“10 laps, everyone! Including Captains Grif and Simmons!”

This was going to be a long day for all involved.
