When shooting off emails, keep all of your private data out of them. Unless you know how to encrypt an email, your messages are actually not so confidential. Keep passwords, account details and other information away from these messages and double check attachments before you include them.

It is an already 2 years old article as the author Salim Virani mentions and also notices that there is a surge of interest about it in a recent tweet (8 jan 2017) “I wonder why my Facebook privacy post (from years ago) is seeing a wave in popularity over the last week. Any ideas?”

Perhaps the latest “revelations” of inquisitive governmental old habits have something to do with this?
