Ellis James was always a happy, bouncing baby. He loved to entertain, make people happy. He only wanted his family to be happy, always. Ellis was a mover, even from birth. He could never sit still, never wanted to. He was loud and melodic as a child, babbling and singing. His father couldn’t deny the talent there, but Ellis wanted nothing to do with musical instruments. Instead, he would put on shows.

The first love of his was Disney. Ellis memorized the songs and moves, realizing a kick line made his mother laugh when she was down. He performed for her and his siblings every chance he could, learning their favorite songs and making monologues at the drop of a hat. Ellis quoted every line in Disney whenever he could. When it was time for chores, he’d sing “Heigh Ho!”, and when he saw siblings feeling down, he’d pull them up for a waltz.

His second love became dance. Ellis asked to be put into dance classes at five, and soon had a knack for tap, ballet, jazz, modern— anything that kept him buzzing and alive. He spent most of his days at the studio, before joining in the pre-professional company at 13. It kept his busy, away from his family that was soon starting to stress him out.

The night his mother was hit, Ellis was at rehearsal. He didn’t know what had happened until he got home. He didn’t know how to process it all. Ellis walked up to his room and blasted Little Mermaid till he couldn’t feel the tears rolling down his cheeks. Ellis had been so blind all these years to the sorrow that his father had caused. Maybe he didn’t want to see it.

He yearned for control over his life. Going into high school, Ellis picked up theatre. He soon found out he was not the best of the best, and in order to be that he figured he needed to slim down, become a stud, get A+ grades, become a better man, be a better man. That’s when the not eating began, his junior year. It paid off; He played Jack in Into the Woods, Perchik in Fiddler on the Roof, and his favorite role, Seaweed in Hairspray his senior year.

During graduation, though, everything changed. Ellis blacked out from the damage he had done on his body. After many intense therapy treatments, Ellis is reworking his attitude towards food. He still wants to perform, still wants to be the best. But, he doesn’t want to not see his family. Ellis is still that happy, bubbly kid— now, he just hides his pain better.

There are some days food is harder than others, and some days he thinks he has it better. But, that doesn’t stop him. Ellis works hard at his craft, and won’t let anything get in his way.

Ellis is super causal. Jeans, flannels, white shirts. Nothing too fancy. Ellis is nearly dancing everywhere he goes, unable to sit still. He always has a water bottle on him, a journal for choreography ideas, and a happy-go-lucky attitude.

There wasn’t another life Devorah knew other than the spot light, but that’s not to say she was a victim of the sterotypes that littered the families around the stars of Hollywood. Growing up, Devorah was what you could call a ‘Daddy’s Girl’, always on his trail, always following him to studios– there wasn’t anything else she knew then her father, that wasn’t saying she wasn’t close to her mother, because she was equally just as to the woman. Scarlet Puckerman had the talents Devorah would call to be one someone simply couldn’t describe, she remembered going to Fashion shows every year, even begging to run down the runway; and that she did. As a 6 year old dressed to the 9’s with her blanket, young Devorah sprinted down a runway with a grin on her face. That was what she was known for, if Mrs. Puckerman had designs for the night, you better of believed Devorah would make an appearance.

It was only a year later did things start to go downhill, a father that wasn’t there in the mornings no longer, screaming that filled the halls as she tried to sleep, and suddenly her mothers cry became something she became far too used to. For years this continued, for year she was sneaking into her mothers room late at night and crawling into bed, running fingers through her hair to calm the older woman. From a young age, Devorah had to learn that sometimes love was a trick, love wasn’t always love.

As she grew older, she was forming a hatred for the man she once saw the sun and stars in, she was hearing her mothers cries too often as she liked. Soon it started to just be a mother and her kids, a father in the party scene far too much, drugs, drinking, anything but being at home with his children. But Scarlet took that and ran with her, she became ever more of a super mom than Devorah ever thought. And she did it with no one ever seeing her fall, with a hell going on that not even Devorah or her siblings would learn until years to come.

Once in school, Devorah was the type to make friends with most, but also be the girl that made people eat sand if she wanted to, if they teased her– she learned to grow up very fast, and that took a tole on her socially. It caused to her act out as a teenager, to party, to drink, and one night in a fight of sheets, shared kisses, a drunken night of pleasure would change her life for the rest of her life. She remembered asking if he had protection, and she remembered a yes- and yet it felt different, but in a drunken haze she couldn’t do anything. It was a month later that in the bathroom, between third period and forth, at the age of 15, Devorah found out she was in fact pregnant. It took another week for her to tell her mother, and another two to tell her siblings. Once her father was given the news, furious that he had to find from a pap, she remembered him storming into their home- the first time she had seen him in weeks in the daylight, angry, passion in his eyes. The screaming, the name calling, the word slut dripping so easily from his mouth sent tears rolling down her cheeks. That seemed to release the bear inside her mother and right in front of her eyes she saw the two of them go at it.

It ended with the sound of a punch to the face, her mother falling to the floor.

That sound would forever echo in her mind, and the next thing she knew, she was taking anything, (which turned to be a hockey stick) and started swinging at the rockstar, her anger coming out in every swing, every scream that left her small fame was overwhelming, and the young Puckerman only stopped once arms were wrapping around her, pulling her back, grounding her, just as her family did.

Not him, never him.

That was the last time the Puckermans ever saw him in their home, and it was that night that their mother came clean about the years of abuse, but she promised them that she would be getting help. Although the therapy that happened, no charges were ever pressed, the young woman, even after everything he put her through, she refused to ruin his career.

From that point on, it was just Scarlet and her kids, and that’s how it was meant to be, that’s what explained their close bond with eachother. As the months followed and Devorah grew more and more pregnant, she was determined to not be a statistic and finish on time. On April 11th Raphael ‘Raffy’ Lee Puckerman was born, and to say it was love at first sight would be an understatement. From that moment on, it just wasn’t Devorah- if you saw Devorah, you had Raffy, a momma bear and her cub. It was easy to say that all of them fell into place and became their own family, their mother healing, turning the bad cards into something good, something worthwhile and Devorah couldn’t be prouder.

Now Devorah lives her life her her mom, for her son, she lives to make them both proud, to make her family proud and there is nothing she would rather be doing.

Devorah, standing tall at 5'2, can nearly always be scene in skinny jeans and heels, that is when she’s not in her medic uniform. Hair long and down her back off the clock, she has a lazy yet professional style. One that loves tattoos of any kind, and always has a sketch pad on her.

Being the oldest, Johari was never a fan of what that title implied, but he took on the responsibilities that came with it even though they were never directly given to him. Being the one in charge when his parents would be out and about. Overall, he saw himself as man of the house since their father wasn’t around as often as he should’ve been. Everything Johari did was for his mother. He was the walking definition of a mama’s boy, so Johari made it his mission to help his mom out as much as he could, because he could see that raising three kids on her own wasn’t a walk in the park.

Although he could tell something was off with his parents, he could never put his finger on it so he didn’t bother himself with the thought. It wasn’t until the fatal day that all hell broke lose in the Puckerman household and the kids would never see their father again. Due to the fact Johari looked up to his dad, the realisation of what the man was doing their mother upset him. So there were no tears when the man was forced out of their life.

The luxury of being born into the spotlight was a dream come true for Johari. With their mother being a world famous designer and their dad being just as famous, Johari was bound to get some sort of camera time. He loved being an accessory for his mom on the red carpet, so much so that he considered the first few years of his life a job. Showing up, smiling, and answering questions when he needed to had become much of a norm for him, and the beginning to a very exciting career.

Johari knew he wasn’t going to be a model his whole life and so did his parents, so it was no surprise when he decided to take up acting. Going from commercials, to being an extra, to eventually getting a few minor roles. He didn’t really take his acting career seriously to begin with, but as soon as he realised he was better at it than he expected he took action. Asking his mom to put him in acting classes to help him get better at his preferred profession. He dealt with the occasional small reoccurring roles, but it wasn’t until he auditioned for a movie when he got his big break. Landing a role in “Straight Outta Compton” was a dream come true for Johari, and just the starting point for even more opportunities in his sudden rise to fame in the acting world. Due to his success in that role he was granted another one when BET decided to do the miniseries for the R&B group New Edition. Johari didn’t think recognition would come as fast as it did but he was excited for what he had gotten to achieve.

Johari felt like he had done pretty good as far as his career went, but when it came to school he wasn’t that well versed. He abandoned the idea of college as soon as he got his first role, but now the idea was looking better and better. He knew it would be a nice change of pace and scenery, so he didn’t waste any time deciding on whether he wanted to take it or not. Plus he could use something similar to a vacation and this was probably as close as he was gonna get.

Johari always has on something designer no matter what look he’s going for. His choice of clothing is never consistent, but he always has on a some sort of chain and bracelet to match his outfits and a grill in his mouth. If he’s not by himself then there’s usually a girl or two on his arm. Because he thinks his body is perfect he hasn’t put any tattoos on it yet, and he doesn’t like needles so there’s no piercings in his present or his future.

PSU was an easy choice. It had everything he ever wanted. Now as a sophomore, Ellis is playing Crutchie in a production of Newsies. It is his pride and joy, knowing he helped with choreography and playing such an amazing role. Ellis cannot wait to show his family it.
