Aang knew he needed to talk to Zuko. He’d encouraged his friend to speak, but the crowd hadn’t completely broken up, even after what Zuko had said. He didn’t wanna just leave them, in case things turned ugly, so he hung around outside for a while, until he was sure things wouldn’t get even more heated. And Zuko’s meeting had to be finished by now, so he gave the protesters one last look, and headed in through the front doors of the Fire Nation Royal Palace. He had a pretty good idea where Zuko would be, and, sure enough, as he headed into the now empty council chamber, he saw his friend.
“Zuko!” he called, hurrying over. “How’d the rest of the council meeting go? People are still outside. They don’t look like they’re gonna break it up any time soon.” He felt like he should’ve done more, should have said more, outside, but what else was there to say? Zuko had been right. Change was coming, but it wasn’t going to happen over night. The Fire Nation had done so much damage in the hundred years that Aang had been away. It would take time to fix it. And he couldn’t help but remember his fight with Ozai, just a few days ago. He was the Avatar, but didn’t he deserve a little break, before his responsibilities started piling up again?
